I vote Le Poison. Even better than the debut.

Here's my dilemna!!

I rate PT's `Signify' as not only the band's best album, but one of the best examples of outstanding modern progressive rock.

But Present's `Le Poison Qui Rend Fou' is in my top 5 prog albums of all time. The manical playing, the sinister sound, the maddening repetition, one of the most chilly, hypnotic and addictive albums I've ever come across.

Much to my office work-mate's dismay, I play it in my office all the time too!

The skull cover is just the cats pajamas as well!

Present the 2nd gets my vote.
Wow i didn't expect you to rate an avant album so high Michael. Man your poor co-worker.LOL

This is the sh*t !
From Klaus Schulze : "...i wanted to do something completely different with "Mirage" and exclusively work with sound layers. This is somewhat the same as what i had done with "Irrlicht" back in 1972. With both records i had the idea to create a more abstract music in order to show in which direction my music could move in the future. The basic idea was to create an electronic winter soundscape. Now here i must also add that at the time my brother was dying, and i was in a very sombre mood which i think is reflected on "Mirage". The record also reflects themes such as ice age, winter, stagnation and death. But that didn't really come clear to me until later because i had never made a record with a concept in mind beforehand. I would usually just start with a track and then let it develope out of itself. It's like writing a diary, you always write how you felt at that particular time. Looking back today(2004) i can absolutely tell you that every one of my albums mirrors how i felt then, and what i had in mind".

Boo...last night Present's debut was within one of Dark Side...

I must admit i'm a little surprised at how well both PRESENT albums are doing. Like most of you i'm sure, i have this on a 2 on 1 cd re-issue. It's just that PRESENT hasn't been doing very well throughout these polls until now. It just shows i guess that the first two are the favourites of most fans.

Its true. 7 votes for them over two albums is pretty sweet to see. If I had to guess I would say these two are the most widely available (and might even still be in print? as opposed to others). OF course, I think their debut is there best as well (though it certainly has some great competition) which may have something to do with it.

Man it's been so long since i've heard the first two PRESENT records that i'm really looking forward to hearing them once again. Tomorrow hopefully. I've been busy listening to 2012 releases of late plus job searching.Dead I think the ice age has also moved into our area and is apparently staying until Sunday.

Really like the TD album too, up there near their best IMO.

Dark Side is still an amazing album, though all the extra singers and saxophones kind of makes it the least Floyd Floyd album, if that makes sense.  Quite a huge work, but a big share of the credit goes to the technical aspect (recording, production) rather than the four guys singing with their instruments.  Though I've decided that "Time" contains my favorite Floyd guitar solo.

That Zamla album is one I just acquired in the last couple of days but haven't listened to yet!
Man there is some haunting music on the two electronic albums i included here and yes that means lots of mellotron.Clap  As i told Phil i can't wait to get re-acquainted with those two PRESENT albums, i think it's been years.Confused

I hear you there. They are magical. I'm sure you'll enjoy it immensly. Nothing helps send out resumes like some good dark RIO music. Big smile

Just finished listening to that and man it's much better than i remembered. I guess i  was thinking it was just like UNIVERS ZERO's 1313, and maybe it is in the same style but without all those classical instruments. PRESENT's is more guitar and piano led and it sounds amazing. Listening to the second one now. Yeah this is really good.Big smile

For some reason I thought Poison meant "fish", and so in my head I thought of the title as meaning "The fish that renders you". Stupid, I know.

edit: I was close; it's "poisson"

As one man's meat is another man's poison, one man's fish is another man's poisson.
