CStack, I was going to post something on one of the Glass Hammer threads asking how everyone was going with this album! I've been slowly getting my head around it, as it's easily the most complex and involved album they've released.
I've been slow on getting through the whole album, because when I bought the CD, the back cover seems to sort of list the tracks as:
Parts 1-4, Part 5-8, Part 9-13 (did you notice that?)
I thought `Oh, OK, so it's essentially three epic tracks', so I'd only been listening to the first 4 tracks over and over, getting my head around them. But when I finally started moving on to 5 and upwards, I realised I must be wrong,as it plays FAR better as a total whole!
Long story short, great album, one long classy symphonic epic!

OH YEAH!! Pure is my favorite album by them, hats off to Pendragon on that big sound change. Passion is excellent and if I'm not mistaking it's rated higher than Pure. I love every moment on it, 4 stars for me not less. I'm still trying to get use to that Smell Of Incense album though.

Sagichim, the `Smell of Incense' one is a rough beauty....honestly, sometimes the vocals are unbearably flat. It's an album that won't appeal to everyone, and I don't think it's a 5 star classic like some do, because those vocals drag it down and some of the arrangements are pretty badly composed.
But the modern clubby elements mixed with sitar, folk and Mellotron drenched Renaissance-influenced prog is an interesting combination!
There you go, I know `Passion' really has it's fans! I think `Pure' simply set the bar impossibly high for me, so of course it was going to sound a bit of a letdown to my ears. When `Pure' came out, my jaw hit the floor. Honestly, I've read some people say those later Pendragon albums simply rip off the more recent harder Porcupine Tree sound, but I honestly thought Barrett did that even more successfully on `Pure' than Wilson did!
However, the next step is to get some of the Pendragon DVD's with material/tours from those two recent albums. I have all the Pendragon DVD's except for the newer ones! Can't wait to see them!

Passion was a bit of a miss for me, meaning not a great hit to my ears. However, I really enjoyed the 4th track on the album, a 13min epic THIS GREEN AND PLEASANT LAND. A nice hit that still really envokes their past sound. :)

Passion was actually my first Pendragon purchase. Pure was my second, and is indeed their pinnacle. I could listen to "Indigo" over and over and not get tired of it. (But I usually restrain myself!) Anyway, my point is that since I came to know them in that "reverse order" I can't see Passion as quite the "step down" that others might. In any case, it's perhaps only a 4 star versus 5 star thing, so its all good!  Since getting those two I have purchased the reissues on the Madfish label as their release, so that's been fun! (Probably listening to "Comatose, Part II - Space Cadet" would not be recommended at the moment, however!)

Infocat, Sagi, Nick, just ignore my rather negative opinions on `Passion'! I actually like it a lot more than I probably made it sound, and like all the better albums it definately grows and improves on multiple listens.
Nick - I think I'll give `Contagion' a spin right now! Man, some of those quicky instrumental tracks on that album are stunners! I mean, the whole album is great, but THOSE tracks...

This one has totally captivated me, instead of the expected symphonic majestic portions of the album, which are very good grabbing my attention, I find the delicate, subtle parts sticking in my head. To me, this is their first true 5 star outing, and I am a big Lex Rex fan.
My album has all the tracks listed individually, 1 through 13.

Not sure but you may want to try Grooveshark.com. That is a place I use to listen to something I am not sure about. They may not have every album but they have quite bit.

Clockwork Angels - Rush. Cant stop listening to it. One of their strongest records for many years IMO
