I was wondering how you'd vote after mentioning Saturnal on the previous poll. I thought that "Laya" album would be in the mix for you as well.Wink

Laya is one of the two I don't have on this list. Embarrassed Though if it's anything like the debut it would be.

Laya is a terrific album, I think, and it got my vote.  It's one of my very favourite albums of this millenium.  I preferred it to the debut, but haven't listened to the debut in a long time..  I also don't have two albums from the list: that Popul Vuh, and that Plastic People album.  Popul Vuh is a band I've been meaning to get more from as I love the band's first few albums, and the group does rank as one of my favourites in PA based on those early albums.  I could have easily voted for Alpha Centauri too, and in fact almost did..  I love TD's first four albums dearly.  That said, the great majority of music I listen to and explore these days is not in the prog archives (albeit it has relations to music here).

Thanks Greg !  I like the cover art too for Pochakaite Malco's two studio albums. Freaky stuff.

Then there's that Popol Vuh album with Renate singing, and hell, even one of my fave PT releases in Metanoia! Love that one, and you can almost taste the Krautrock flavour throughout... Uhhmmm tastes like chicken. Oh yeah also: Univers Zero, Plastic People, Ske and one of the finest and most eclectic Floyd albums in More. I swear sometimes it acts as stand in for my absolute most cherished Floyd album - I actually think I listen to it more than any other from them...

Still the ultimate TD Krautrock album gets my vote:

The Dancing Dane has returned.
I'm glad you mentioned that Renate is on that Popol Vuh album because i forgot about that. It is one of my fav Popol Vuh records. I'm not sure why it moves me but it does. So yeah the singer and drummer from Amon Duul II are on this one.

An easy vote for PT's Metanoia.....ah, the time when a new PTree album meant something different each album!

I remember listening to it over and over when it came out (vinyl only for quite a while!), and my girlfriend of the time (who actually really liked PTree) saying "I can't stand this...it's so boring, it's like....nothing music..."

(and which point in the back of my mind I'm thinking "You know, I don't think this is working out...." )

I'm the same as you Jon, i prefer Atem and Zeit and i actually prefer the Krautrock flavoured debut even more.
This one is interesting though. Schulze and Schnitzler who played on the debut are gone. Enter Franke on drums who was with Agitation Free but before they released an album. I understand that Tangerine Dream and Agitation Free played at the Zodiac Club together a lot in the early days so they all knew each other.

Interesting. AC was always my favorite of the early 4 TD releases.

The big difference is Tsuboy(not sure if i spelled that right) from KBB being part of it. So yeah he's ripping it up on his violin which gives a different dynamic for sure.

Ah I see. That sounds sweet. IfI ever find it I will get it. And @ Logan: Yeah, the reviews here indicate Laya is the preferred album to the people who rated it. Though I do really really like the debut.

Always dancing one way or anotherLOL I prefer to dance at my work place though - those kids man - they'll have you doing I'm a maniac - maaaaaniac dance in a jiffy!
I know what you mean about that Popol Vuh album too - gets me as well. On the other hand - a lot of Popol Vuh albums resonate with me on a personal level. Lately it has been Das Hohelied Salomos doing the trick.

I hope you are allright over there in Canada my friend. I'll tell you, winter here in Denmark has struck like a lightning. We've got 15 below and snow up the wazoo. Tonight though the stars are out and they're shooting. I think I saw 15 shooting stars just now. May just have to step out again just for a bit.

What you said about your ex reminds me of my daughter who is a huge PT fan but Metanoia does nothing for her. Too spacey without structure i suppose. On the other hand she's really digging the Storm Corrosion cd with Wilson and Akerfeldt. Again i think it's because there is some structure and it's not these spacey improvs.

Yep, real shooting stars. Even more this time out. There is no light polution hindering you from watching the skies, so literally every bead of light can be seen. Truly feels like walking around in this enormous milky way dome. And for some reason I am always up when everyone else is asleep...

But yes, to answer your question: no hallucinations, sadly....

^I have rarely seen a shooting star here so that's pretty cool that you get so many.  I used to love jogging on the beach at night because there's no artificial light down there. Of course it was a little dangerous unless there was a full moon. Yeah i've wiped out a few times over the years. Haven't jogged for about a year and a half though.

It's alright, I can dig it John. Anyway jogging is sooo last year. What you need is some power yoga and a good fencing match.

October Equus not having any votes is depressing. The people made my choice much easier.
