Hi, new to the board. Lovely site. Just wanted to add that one song in particular almost always or nearly always gets me going and that is "And You and I" by Yes. Anybody know that one? It isn't that it's a "sad" song necessarily but it is so emotional, joyous, and intense, overwhelming...
Yeah I agree with you. YES has a few songs that can make ya tear up a bit. SOON (new edit) is another one.

Nope, very often it leaves me completely breathless when it's done right, but sometimes when I listen to "Starless", it brings me near to tears. Also, "Soon" is pretty moving. "Trilogy" as well (first section only though).

in all honesty - RISING THE IMPERIAL from The Flower Kings latest album has the power to make me tear up, every time - the melodies, the vocals, the whole instrumental shebang. What a track !!!

A couple of more tear-jerkers for me :
Cold Is Being AND Black Flame (Renaissance 'Turn of the Cards' album)
Caravan - the 'Dissassociation' section of Nine Feet Underground when Richard Sinclair starts singing "there's a place where I can go, where I listen to the wind singing..."
Most of Hopper/Gowen's 'Two Rainbows Daily'
...............and on National Health's Alan Gowen tribute album 'D.S. al Coda' there's a most touching interlude of bass, electric piano and flute between Flanagan's People and Toad of Toad Hall that really captures a feeling of loss. Sheer beauty. Certainly there are more. Oh yeah, Floyd's 'Marooned' does it to me too.

Same with VDGG's Refugees.
And this part of GG's On Reflection:
I'll remember the good things how can you forget all the years that we shared in our way Things were changing my life, taking your place in my life and our time drifting away

At the Yes concert tears streamed down when And You And I started- it was overwhelming to finally hear it live. And when they finished the epic Fly From Here and we all stood to our feet and cheered, it was a weepy moment.
At the Pink Floyd Australian Show there were tears after the solo of Comfortably Numb and even after the last note of the full Dark Side of the Moon album they played so brilliantly.
as far as listening to albums its hard to remember but its happened sometimes. I m a softie really
I listened to SAVIOUR MACHINE's , END OF THE AGE but I just kinda teared up a bit because of it's beautiful epic nature. Great song. Lots of triumph ;)
It not prog but I cant watch this clip without tearing up
Its a clip I made dedicated to my late dad. It was shown at his funeral
Slim Dusty was his favourite artist so thats the music i used...
sorry but it means so much to me and I wanted to share it
that's really sweet man. I'm sure in the afterlife your dad will give you a big hug for your amazing tribute to him. For now though, you must continue to Prog on in his honor just as you've been doing.

Genesis - Afterglow
"....and now I've lost everything, I give to you my soul.....and the meaning of all that I believed before escapes me, in this world of none......I miss you more"
That one is very poignant to me and never fails lo leave a lump in the throat
