Voted 'other' -UK's debut album. Perhaps thats a 'cheat' considering they were a supergroup?

How about Mahavishnu Orchestra or Anglagard's debut?

Well done! I picked Yes, it was very influential on me even though they did a few covers. BTW, the second Yes album was the remarkable "Time and a Word," still featuring Peter Banks on guitar. This is quite an excellent performance from the first LP, if you've never seen this...rare Peter Banks footage!! No vote because I'm only familiar with the following: The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Gentle Giant, Freak Out!, The Soft Machine. Out of these, it would be Gentle Giant.

I´ve been hesitating between Yes and Camel. But I finally decided to Yes debut, which is still a little more succeeded.

Yes' debut is fantastic. Not prog yet maybe, but fantastic songs anyway.

After that, a very underrated one: The Aerosol Grey Machine.

Even with YES and CAMEL, my vote goes to the only original Syd Barrett's album. The most revolutionary album of Pink Floyd's history.

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

I love later Floyd, but I was never a fan of the Syd Barrett dominated band and Piper doesn't do it for me.
The first Giant album is good, but my vote goes to Camel, who hit the ground running and never stopped.
Other great debuts: Druid (Toward the Sun) Horslips (Happy to Meet, Sorry to Part) and Gryphon (Gryphon).

That's what "other" is meant for. I voted for Kobaia, and it was an easy choice despite loving several on the list (I know them all), and having lots of beloved débuts that I could have mentioned as an "other" 'choice. I think that Kobaia is a knock-out début album. Magma is one of my absolute favourite bands, and that is my favourite album by Magma. I find it a stunning double-album début. |

Gryphon's version of the "Unquiet Grave" off their début is a particular favourite of mine: |
