Go Tigers!

Should be a great World Series. Both teams have really good pitching staffs but the Giants i think have a better bullpen. But the Tigers at least can set up their starting pitching the way they want to and the Giants can't. But the layoff usually isn't a good thing so...flip a coin ? Big smile
If i was betting i'd take the Giants but i'd love to see Detriot win this thing.

Yes, because i am a National League fan for years, i will go for the Giants, but it's just frustrating that Melky Cabrera is not in the line up, so we can see both teams on equal terms. But with the kind of pitching that Giants showed off in the last 3 games, they could pull it off, if they can shut down the big 2 monsters of Detroit, Cabrera and Fielder.

Can't imagine why, we have plenty of players who can't hit.  Tongue

I don't really have a preference.  The Tigers seem to struggle against lefties not named C.C. Sabathia, so San Fran might pose a greater challenge there.  San Fran not playing Melky Cabrera is a plus, but it doesn't seem to have really affected them too much.  With both Holliday and Beltran having injuries, that might be the better opponent, although not sure if their injuries would keep them out or not.  I suppose St. Louis gets a slight edge for the "revenge" factor from losing to them in 2006, but there are so few members of either team still playing for these teams it really isn't much of a factor.

Hey Scott do you have any preference between SanFran or St.Loius ?
I thought that was a series you could flip a coin about, They're so evenly matched. My head was saying SanFran because of their pitchiing but St'Louis just seems to be able to win when they need to. Looking forward to the game tonight.

Its something that has only come up rarely but many Yankee fans are thinking it....A rod is getting older sure, but he has a real massive drop in production, has been getting hurt every year....man boobs sprouted.
These are the classic signs of steroid use, well ending steroid use. Common sense would have to say that ending the roids at a time when you are naturally getting older is not good for productionLOL and the mental aspect of "im a f**kin god I'll hit homers in my sleep" is also gone...and A Rod has for years been anti clutch. The evidence is certainly piled up.

On the radio this morning I actually heard a great point, when these steroid era players get to their 50s and later...its gunna be a very sad time. What they've done to their bodies for success then is really gunna be miserable for the rest of their life. Very sad.

They showed this commercial on the big screen a number of times.

Curious if A-Roid watched it during his free time.

ooo you think I meant like the Tigers physically cant win?
nah they absolutely can, I meant like "they better not win" Wink

And you beat the Yanks in the post season, congrats. That's a huuuge achievement. They only put up what was actually one of the worst post seasons everTongue

Anyway I DO like the Cardinals so this works out. Even if the Giants take it thats fine, I just dont want Detroit to win. One as the team that beat us, two partially to shut yo face up

The nice thing about Detroit sweeping the Yankees is that they can set up their pitching the way they want it which will be an advantage especially if SanFran wins the next game and prolongs that series.

On paper Detroit wins but if i was a betting man i'd pick St.Louis. It's very close though.  Really looking forward to this World Series and they played each other for the Series in 2006 right ? Revenge time for the Tigers .
Relief pitching is definitely a concern.  The Yankees and A's were 1-2 in come from behind victories this year and the Tigers survived 2 blown appearances by Valverde.  In interviews, he claims that he has figured out what he was doing wrong.  I guess that will remain to be seen.  I am perfectly surprised that the Tigers have made it this far.  I had them written off for dead when they got swept by the Twins in that September doubleheader.  If someone had told me that the Tigers would sweep the Yankees in the ALCS with Delmon Young being the MVP, Jhonny Peralta being a close 2nd for MVP, and Phil Coke being the star reliever/closer I would have called for the men with the white coats.
