You said it. Well, it wasn't always my fave prog song, but maybe it will remain so for as long as I live.

OK, forget that I said that. Think I'm getting warmer with ambient. ... F$%k. ... At this point I could pick anything from those Eno/Budd/Budd and Eno albums. ... . Put a gun to my head - "Steal Away" by Eno and Budd will be the one.

Pick one.

The Gates Of Delirium or Supper's Ready for the classic era; Cassandra Gemini for the modern era. Supper's Ready is probably my all time favourite overall - I had never heard anything like it at the time, and I still haven't - the pinnacle. |
So, "Supper" is your final answer? ... 666?

"Supper's Ready" - 4 votes (+1 if Fox on the Rocks drops Cassandra Gemini in favor of "Supper") "Echoes" - 4 votes "The Revealing Science of God" - 3 votes (Wow! ) "Gates of Delirium" - 3 votes "Close to the Edge" - 2 votes "Thick as a Brick" - 2 votes
Check me if I'm wrong and explain whom I missed.

^ Revealing Science of God (dance of the dawn) is really good though. I think it's earned a shot at the title.

Wow, this is quite tough, too much songs... I'll go with Metropolis pt. 1 by Dream Theater because they ain't in the list yet.

Very nice choice. I still say that track really defines them for what they are. It has everything. Beautiful song

I am approaching this from the point of view of "the song that sums up/defines prog the best". Lots of choices, but I'll go with Close to the Edge.

I think I should have been more specific; that list is the list of the songs that received a relatively good number of votes. I did not count any songs that received only one vote, so "Metropolis" might have got a vote. Think I'm gonna augment that list.

Actually the OP wasn't that rigorous about that condition.

These "pick one" questions are tough. I have to say my favorite is "Oroborus" by Astra. LOVE THAT SONG!!!
