Answering all the questions you're all subconsciously thinking about album covers!

I know nothing about Sigmund Freud other than his great penchant for the male phallus, and observing my CD and record collection I have observed with the power of abstract thought and a ruler how this primal yearning of humanity runs through the cover art of some of our dearest album artworks.

Brain Salad Surgery - ELP

Ok we all (should) know BSS is a gratuitous example, so let's move on.

Led Zeppelin I - Led Zeppelin

The Hindenburg erupting into flames? A CLASSIC and potent metaphor for premature ejaculation.

Warrior on the Edge of Time - Hawkwind

The less said the better really.

Relayer - Yes

A giant chasm complete with two giant snakes? Sounds like some of those videos I've seen.
I cannot possibly comment on those horsemen though.

But the biggest and most obscene example? Well it's a mystery, but I have a contender below.

But what examples of Freudian album art have you seen? Do share. It is your DUTY!

So... were supposed to post album covers that somehow reference the male genitalia?

Exactly, or become one with the theory and be the album art.

Nice allusions in Sledge Hammer by PG definitely:

Critics have said its about PG "shedding his skin" to take on a new sound, and some say its about Cocaine or Heroin addiction - "I kicked the habit". But its really about suggesting to a woman what she can have if she was willing to submit to his sexual advances. Its kind of creepy lyrically, but sounds fun musically.

It begins with sexual double-entendre:

The suggestion of having it

You could have a steam train
If you'd just lay down your tracks

(He wants her to lay down and take it)

You could have a big dipper
Going up and down, all around the bends
You could have a bumper car, bumping
This amusement never ends

(So a curvy girl is here waiting for the act.... and the bumper car comes next... really good writing  PG)

Show me round your fruitcage
'Cause I will be your honey bee
Open up your fruitcage
Where the fruit is as sweet as can be

(Too blatant to comment on, though I have never heard it called a fruitcage before...)

Now the act itself as the song changes:

You've been coming through
Going to build that power
Build, build up that power, hey
I've been feeding the rhythm
I've been feeding the rhythm
Going to feel that power, build in you
Come on, come on, help me do
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you
I've been feeding the rhythm
I've been feeding the rhythm
It's what we're doing, doing
All day and night

(This is the act itself, after the foreplay, now that he has coerced the woman to open up her fruit a cage so she can feel his sledge hammer...)

Steam is just as bad though much more hidden meanings
OK, next.

Hah ha

Heres a live performance of that song

PG even makes sexual movements to emphasise the lyrics...
