Hello all,Recently, we've contacted a hot new Progressive Metal / classical band called Distorted Harmony, a band which is making waves on the scene, currently holding the 11th position on ProgArchive's best of 2012 with their thundering debut, "Utopia".

Distorted Harmony, hailing from Tel Aviv, describe themselves as being a "delicate combination of the complex progressive metal, the unique harmonies of modern Jazz and Classical music". With influences ranging from Genesis, Dream Theater and Opeth to the masters of Classical and Jazz music, the band works to develop their unique blend of mutating time signature changes, melodic vocals, and crunching death metal tendencies.

The band began in 2009, when composer / keyboardist Yoav Efron began working with drummer Yogev Gabay, eventually filling out the lineup in 2011 with Misha Soukhinin (Vocals), Guy Landau 9Guitars) and Iggy 'Jalapeno' Cohen (Bass). The music for the title track, "Utopia" was written in 2006, with the rest of the record (also entitled "Utopia") being slowly composed over the next few years. Later, with the help of vocalist, Misha Soukhinin, the lyrics were developed for the bands' debut effort.

Digitally released on May 14th, 2012, their debut album ("Utopia") was was initially available as a free download, gaining a fanbase on both the Local and International scenes, leading Distorted Harmony to establish themselves as Isreal's leading progressive metal band. One of the things that makes Distorted Harmony so unique is their crossover appeal ... fans of both traditional prog and prog metal have been known to appreciate what they bring to the scene.

LOVE Distorted Harmony. I actually read a great interview a friend of mine did, so it's hard to think of new questions but I am wondering if they've had any "bites" from any record labels since releasing the CD?

I have downloaded the album and I'm looking to write a review but I'm currently very busy with my "real" job. I like what I have heard up to now. Of course having the possibility to ask directly the band will help in making a good job (but I'm not a professional writer so don't expect too much).

I'm mainly interested in what have inspired the songwriting. I believe that who makes any kind of art has a message to transmit, even inconscious. Getting the message is what is needed to write meaningful things, otherwise it's just techie stuff.
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Both great questions, but I'm not accepting questions on anywhere except for the board.

I haven't listened enough to put meaningful questions, but I'll register to your site in the meantime.

Old thread but I'm bumping it due to the recently released Chain Reaction which is my favourite album of the year.

I need a T-Shirt but not from the US with all the import taxes - anywhere in the UK to source one?
