Bump
Because it's time FOR FOOTBALL.
This is the pre season where starters will actually get into the 3rd quarter before they all get benched for next week. Than it's finally time for the real deal!
Soooooo thoughts? I've stopped trying to predict the Giants, but why the hell not? Need to do some rebuilding, but they at least got the right pieces...we shall see how it unfolds. I expect a decent but not great year.
In the mean time, still got Tuck, Osi, Jpp the Haitian Sensation, and forgotten Kiwanuka who's a pretty damn solid rusher. The back 7 will hopefully not repeat last years debacle for 14 games...
On the flip: That o line has to get in shape ASAP but at least we have Eli, who should have another great year. I think he's finally reached plateau. After last year nothing should cause him to falter anymore. I'm realistically excited

I would be happy with this year's team if I were a Giants fan. You guys still have a few small pieces you could potentially add (assuming you count things like "a third wide receiver" as one), but overall I'd have to think they're favorites in the NFC this year. Now watch them finish third in their division because I said that. As for the Bengals, I think the o-line still has a bit to do in terms of timing and teamwork on certain plays, but they've improved steadily every week during the preseason. In the second game when they played who-knows-because-no-one-care-about-the-preseason, they had so many injuries on their d-line that I don't think they rotated anyone out at all during that game. And they all became somewhat sluggish after the 3rd or 4th defensive series. But 2 of the main 3 guys who were injured should be good to go when the first regular season game rolls around. I'm still waiting for the day when no one can get away with saying that the Pats are the favorites in the AFC this year. Mostly because 1) I think it was laughably untrue last year and 2) I still see similar issues they had with their defense last year. Although I guess if you get to the Super Bowl and you're a favorite, that's not too bad. I think if Dalton gets enough protection, and the defense is as good as it looks on paper, we might have a shot at the division this year. I definitely think we'll make it past the wild card/first round in the playoffs this year however.

Speaking of division winners, does anyone have any predictions for all the division winners this year? I'm eager to see if MoM mans up again and posts his predictions first. It's a tough act to follow after all.

Yeah, predicting the Giants has been utterly worthless. Like I said, we have our d line of monsters, Eli, Nicks and Cruz. That alone is good, if we can get that sh*tty o line fixed up and the back 7 a bit better we'll be awwwwright I say!
Well season is on gents. Needless to say hoping for a sweet victory over those damned Cowboys.

Cowboys up 2 touchdowns over the Giants. Didn't expect that.

Eh, week 1 (even week 2 for the G Men) I am willing to discard...so I wont jump the gun yet, but my fears are already bubbling up The complete lack of coverage and pitiful o line were in full force! What can ya say? Pretty ugly but the teams need to get up to speed. At least Eli was pretty much perfect. Only a couple of bad throws, though one cost a TD, and did pretty good with no run game!

I don't understand how the Giants didn't win. How did their pass rush fail to generate nearly any pressure in the second half against that atrocious straining board that Dallas calls an OL? I wanted the Boys to win because I see the Giants as the bigger threat in the division, but it still baffles me. Cruz drops 3 balls? Eli overthrows wide open receiver in end zone? Some strange stuff happened there.
Gotta give credit to Romo. He played a hell of a game after the INT.

Well IIRC, I think the G-men had 3 injuries on their d-line. Hence why their pass rush wasn't nearly as effective as it usually is.
The Bengals will have the same issue next Monday night against the Ravens, just on the other side of the ball. We have 2 guards and a center starting that game who have never started an NFL game before (our LG is out for the season. Tore something related to his knee I believe so that's a big loss in and of itself). I'm also worried about how much the Ravens are going to "test" Dalton's throwing shoulder since it's supposedly pretty bruised, but I think he'll pull through it.
I just wish we didn't have to play at Baltimore on Week 1 really.

All hail M.o.M.'s 2012 NFL Predictions:
AFC EAST:
Buffalo Bills: 7-9
Miami Dolphins: 4-12
NE Cheatriots: 11-5 (hate to do it but the rest of the division sucks)
NY Jets: 8-8
AFC NORTH Baltimore Birdies: 9-7
Cincy Bungles: 8-8
Cleve Brownies: 3-13
Pittsburgh Steelers: 12-4 (again, I'm biased but I see the Birdies D fading fast this year and Rice finally getting hurt)
AFC SOUTH
Houston Texans: 12-4
Indy Lucks: 6-10
Jacksonville Jaguars: 2-14
Tenn Titans: 4-12
AFC WEST
Denver Broncos: 8-8
KC Chiefs: 4-12
Oakland Raiders: 9-7
SD Chargers: 7-9
NFC EAST
Dallas Cowboys: 9-7
NY Giants: 7-9
Philly Iggles: 9-7
Wash Deadskins: 4-12
NFC NORTH
Chicago Bears: 10-6
Detroit Lions: 10-6
GB Packers: 13-3
Minn Vikings: 3-13
NFC SOUTH
Atlanta Falcons: 12-4
Carolina Panthers: 6-10
NO Saints: 11-5
TB Bucs: 2-14
NFC WEST
Arizona Cardinals: 2-14
SF 49ers: 13-3
Seattle Seabirds: 4-12
St. Louis Rams: 5-11
The last two teams were the hardest to predict because, while they both stink, they stink in such a way that they could take advantage of better teams letting their guard down.

Cruz had the dropsies last year. Had a bunch of multi drop games, seems to have a habit of running before its caught (and just being a butterfingers). It did improve over 2011, but even still he had some WTF MAN drops. The Giants secondary is a travesty. They have some injuries that really hurt, but honestly in terms of coverage our corners aren't that good, and Antrel Rolle couldn't even cover me. It's sad they still could've easily won. The Cowboys were a complete mess, but deff credit to Romo, played a great game. And I thought in all honesty he had a pretty damn strong 2011, maybe his best season. We have the same problem David, that O line is a joke. Our backs used to always average near, or above, 5 yards a carry and run like monsters...now Bradshaw can barely make 2 yards and Jacobs, hell he could barely get past the handoff and the pass protection is sh*t

Wow, this web site always amazes me. A prog NFL thread.... Being a Steelers fan, it looks like I will be loved and hated here. They worry me this year as they are getting long in the tooth and our first round lineman stud is pretty much gone for the season. The game against the Denver Mannings...er, Broncos bothers me as I feel Manning will have a good opener as he will be pumped. After that, he will come back to earth. My attempt at picks for playoffs: AFC Patriots Ravens Steelers Bengals Broncos Texans NFC Giants Cowboys Packers Bears Niners Saints Coin toss for who wins it all.

No it's not. There's no coin in the world that can fix the Cowboy's OLine.

I did struggle putting the Cowboys in there in the first place (as it pained me much to do ), but there their defense seems to be quite improved (at least in the first game) mostly in the secondary. It is a tough division to pick and I think it all hinges on Vick's health which I am not conviced he will make all 16 games...

Anton crazy??? Nahhhh I dont think we love/hate anyone here based on their teams. Well OK Jody and Anton do, but Pat and I seem a bit more civilized, even though he's a Philly street thug All that can be said about the NFC east is: The skins will need two seasons. RG3 needs to develop and they need a team around him, even if he turns out to be a stud the Skins dont have much talent overall. Cowboys will choke when it counts, as always. Eagles and Giants will be the contenders. It depends on Vicks health and if the team can keep it's massive stardom from going supernova. Giants all depend on that defense and O line (the worst in the whole NFL last year!)

Fine, why not? NFC East: GIANTS EAGLES Cowboys Redskins
NFC North PACKERS LIONS (Yeah I'm doing it, though the bears probably have a much better chance) Bears Vikings
NFC South SAINTS Falcons Panthers Buccs
NFC WEST 49ers Seahawks Cardinals Rams
AFC EAST PATRIOTS (I hate it but cmon...) Bills Jets Dolphins
AFC NORTH (Crazy I know, but tough division and AFC is weak this year) STEELERS RAVENS Bengals Browns
AFC SOUTH TEXANS Colts Jags Titans
AFC WEST (god who has any idea about this mess?) BRONCOS Chiefs Chargers Raiders
I'll just start with superbowl contenders for now: 49ers or Packers against the Texans or Patriots
That brutal San Fran defense, + more time for Smith to grow and add Jacobs, Manningham and Moss? Killer Hate to have the Pats in there, but again weak AFC and Brady has a deep threat now

There can't be a team as reliable in their performance as the Miami Dolphins...

I want to know why I'm crazy about the Chiefs' record? What do they have that they can win games with? Also, their front office is moronic. Fired a coach that took them to the playoffs because he can't repeat, the next year, with a 3rd string QB and no RB, to hire a complete joke of a coach.
