The season is among us gentlemen! Good luck to everyone. A few last minute details; there are no waivers, we do have a can't cut list ( a list of good players determined by yahoo that you can not cut from your team), trades are reviewed by a league voting system rather than commissioner, and we have no playoff system ( all teams get to play the 17 weeks of regular season).

I would like to continue this thing into the post season, so after the regular season comes to a close, I'd figure we'd do something like a King of the Hill or some other system so we can all enjoy fantasy football for as long as possible. We wouldn't have to use a site like yahoo, we could simply make picks via this thread. If you have any ideas on what you'd like to see in post season please suggest your ideas. Examples: we could simply pick what teams we think are going to win and by how many points, or we could choose players on a weekly basis, keeping those players who's team had won, double or tripling their points the following week(s). We got a long time before we have to decide on something but I'm just getting the ball rolling.

Is there anything wrong with using Yahoo?

No, but I'm unsure as to whether or not they provide a post season fantasy "league". I was in one last year that was through nfl.com I believe. It was where we picked players from the teams that made the playoffs and each player got double or triple points for every consecutive week they played. In this style, every participant could play any player, regardless of how many people chose said player. So it would be possible for everyone to start the same QB/WR/Rb/Etc.. It just would be unlikely that everyones lineup would be the same, but it does increase the value of underdog players.

This is just one of the ways we could go with it, another would be picking the teams you think will make it to the Superbowl and the scores of said games. A lot of people play in these post season "leagues" and there are a lot of variations. I've only been in a few so it'd be nice to hear from others on the subject and see if we can all agree on some system, but we have all of regular season to worry about for the time being, I was simply throwing the idea out there...

p.s Don't choke on that beef wellington when my kicker Dan Baley hits a couple of 50+ yarders to set the tone for the days to come.

But Brees is an anagram of Beers, so I win.

Forgot to make this year's NFL predictions.  Will have to relocate the NFL Thread and doso after the first game (busy, busy).

I'm going undefeated so it's all good.

Dogs can't talk silly. Especially when someone's holding their heads under water.

This matchup may be a tad rough, but I think I'll do OK.
I look to be a sleeper threat over the long haul as I get MJD back and Peyton and Demaryius Thomas go berserk. Cool

Thought I'd watch the Saints this afternoon but we're taking the kids to the fair.  Ten bucks, unlimited rides and a Monster truck show- can't beat it.  My son loves monster trucks.

I've got my DVR set to record it, so I might watch it when I get back.  That means I won't come online and have anything spoiled for me.

But I'll probably cave and be like OMG am I winning?  Shocked

I'm a little worried because I have quite a few probables and questionables this week.I had a great roster last year and was plagued the whole season by injuries, hope I don't have the same luck this season.

BTW...I might be looking to trade RGIII if anyone is interested.Having Rodgers as my starter will mean RGIII will be on my bench with the exception of GB's bye week.Looking to upgrade at WR or possibly RB.

I am thinking about changing the points for defenses. I will try not to let this affect the outcomes of week 1. Here are the changes that I will apply after the last Monday night game.

Interceptions - Change value form 2 to 1
Sack - Chang value from 2 to 1.
Fumble Recovery - Change value from 2 to 1.
4th Down Stops - Change value from 1 to .25
Tackles for Loss - Change value from .5 to .2
3 & Outs Forced - Change value from .5 to .2

Hopefully this will help make so defenses don't put up massive points comparable to quarterbacks but still values good playing.

Would be doing much better if I started Matt Ryan over Brady (though who would?) and if I started MJD...
Go figure
