Today I bring you a little known Noise-punk-rock band, the Jaunties.
The Jaunties was lead by Jason Willett, known for his work in 1/2 Japanese and various short lived 80's punk bands.
I really don't know too much other than that about this short lived band.
Cool, I didn't know about this group. I'm very familiar with Jason Willett thru his work in Half Japanese, but never knew what other bands he'd been in. Listened to a bit of them and it'd be a nice add to my collection. Thanks!

jason willett was never in any 80's punk band. most bands that he's been in have never ended so most bands that he's been in or i should say in, are not short lived. he is still creating music..... the jaunties have made 4 albums & they are still a band.

Anyone familiar with The Work? An experimental post/punk/noise project, formed by Tim Hodgkinson of Henry Cow in the early 80's. Zany stuff, definitely weird and unlistenable
Here's their first EP from 1981,
No reviews on this band in the archives yet, but I'll check their other albums as well.

I was thinking of The Fair Brothers when I wrote that.
I would consider The Jaunties punk, as well as 1/2 Japanese to an extent though. I could only find Asthma and the singles collection disc The Jaunties for the discog. Both released in 1993. I apparently completely sucked at fact finding with this one.
no worries on the fact finding. i often find that people who are hungry to discover are more interesting than people who are walking encyclopedias. there are 2 more albums by the jaunties entitled 'myoclonic twitch in the key of h' & 'yes lord!'. both are cds.
'the work - slow crimes' was the first record to rival my crazy passion for 'trout mask replica' in the late 80's. still one of my favorite records.....

Now is as good a time as ever to give you guys more crazy sh*t.
This one goes out to Alan and all the other noise freaks out there.
I bring you Nkondi.
Nkondi is extremely, incredibly harsh noise band from Portland OR. Real name is Erik Arteaga and he also runs the label dolldullofrivets which releases many a good noise stuffssss.
I have to say, I have been getting more and more into extremely loud noise (tho I still hate Variable Ambit), and this guy's stuff is absolutely one of the harshest noise in existence. Have a ruptured eardrum for yourself.
I am not responsible for blown speakers or hurt ears if you decide to not turn your sound down before playing this stuff. seriously.
