Come on, you could easily add twenty more minutes to 6DoIT, we need more sections for physical ailments like smallpox and the plague.  Moonchild could have repeated all the lyrics, and then added a metal interlude before the avant/free section.  And the drum beat to Halleluhwah is so great, they could have doubled the length.

Not prog in the purest sense, but "Breaking Glass" from David Bowie's Low is infuriatingly short - less than two minutes, despite having this wonderful fractured funky groove that could easily go for four or five minutes without outstaying its welcome. Having said that, I've just found out via Wikipedia that there's a longer live version from his 1978 tour which I shall now immediately track down.

When I think of tracks that finish too early, Machine's Rainmaker is the first song that comes to my mind. I wonder how this would continue when it was an 8- or 9-minute song.
 
Another example is Tim Buckley's I Woke Up. I fully and heartily agree with what Sean Trane says about it in his review on Starsailor.

I like that feeling of things ending too early. That's kinda what I try to do musicially. Play some riff one time or twice where you should play it like 8 times. Because with music you can listen to the track over and over again. If it ends too soon you just rewind and enjoy. But as one cohesive album experience its more fun to have more mutation and more concise passages. But that's just my opinion.

Not sure if we have discussed this here before.

I hope the title is not misleading, what I meant to say is:
Some years ago, listening through Opeth's Morningrise and the last track "To bid you farewell", I found myself completely "captivated" by the progression of the track and the melodies, that when it came to the last moments (and after 11+ minutes...), I could not believe the track actually ended, and there was no more... a few years later still listening to this track and still get the same feeling.

Care to share if you have ever found yourself in such a situation? Hope to get some good recommendations for albums that are not widely known Big smile
