I wouldn't say I completely hate them but I almost hate Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson. Pink Floyd is extremely boring and every project Wilson is involved in puts me to sleep.
I kind of have grown to dislike Rush, they're hit or miss for me. I also dislike basically anything prog metal  (but not heavy prog), Krautrock, Psychedelic/Space rock, or prog electronic, and I haven't been able to get into any RIO/Avant prog except for John Zorn, but I'm open to it. Neo-Prog I mostly dislike but I enjoy Marillion, Magenta, and some Pallus.
I feel like I'm the only one who likes James LaBrie's voice, it reminds me of Steve Perry's, but I mostly dislike Dream Theater.

Why? It is interesting to see people disliking those loved albums by loved bands. If you hate such threads, why don't you stay out?

Its a short editorial on the prevailing negativity of the forum. Deal with it.

Not so fast....Justin Bieber is destined to be the next vocalist of Yes when Jon Davison flips 'em off for good!  He's short, Canadian, has a warbly tenor, and twirls around onstage, just like his countryman Benoit David!  A match made in heaven!

Rumor is Lady Gaga is gearing up to do a Las Vegas show based upon "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway."

One band I tend to dislike is Rush.  I saw them live, just as their second LP was being released.

Geddy Lee's voice is like fingernails on slate, Alex Lifeson can't hold a candle to prog guitarists like Patrucci, but at least Neil Pert can bang the cans with gusto!

That would be sacrilege!  That would deserve a hate-thread all of its own...

Most bands in any of the metal categories ultimately bore me.  It is exciting for one song, then it all starts to sound the same.  This includes older classic bands as well as newer ones, notably Porcupine Tree, Opeth, and Metallica.

The album We're Only in it for the Money is mostly random noise and has no artistic value.  The same goes for Trout Mask Replica.

Kobaian simply sounds like a mix between German and French, no big deal.  And what is the point of singing in a language nobody else knows?

Radiohead is dull and Sigur Ros is coma inducing.

Tool does what they do very well but they only do three or four things, so after three or four songs they repeat themselves.  They also repeat themselves in all of their songs.  This all ends up with a lot of repetetion.

I wish Dream Theater would stop showing off and just play some songs.  Ones that don't sound like Metallica.  Their lyrics are sophmoric.

Zappa wallowed in way too much juvenalia.

Blackmore's Night is for tween girls, not the demographic I belong to.

Steve Morse has been playing the same guitar solo for 25 years.  Granted, it is a good one, but still.

Anybody can listen to what they want for whatever reasons they want.  That is not anybody else's decision.  These are just some of my negative views.

I don't think I've ever seen a post full of so much fail.
Not sure what you mean by 'fail', my friend.  Have I not explained myself adequately, or do we merely differ in tastes?

I never really got Camel's Mirage. Such a dull sounding album in my opinion and the vocals sort of put me off to sleep. Sleepy Lady Fantasy isn't even my favourite either; I'd put Nimrodel and Earthrise over it any day. I love all the rest of Camel's material though, especially Moonmadness, Snow Goose and Rain Dances. Smile

Well we all know vocals are not Camel's strong suit but you are far off target with everything else.

I don't like them.

But no hate in my soul.

+1.

Also: ...

The Rolling Stones (in general)
Bob Dylan
AC/DC (in general)
Jimi Hendrix
Edge of Sanity (here you are asking a guy who thinks that The Bee Gees had done a freaking awesome job on "Cucumber Castle".)

To annoy you one more time, I don't hate those. I just dislike them.

As for the actual hatred, I'll keep it quiet.

Well, I donīt hate the following artist, but they donīt partcilarly appeal to me: King Crimson, Porcupine Tree and all other Steve Wilson Stuff, The Mars Volta, Magma, .... and I donīt really like bands who sing in French. I donīt have anything against french speaking  people, please donīt get me wrong on that , I know quite a number of them, all lovely people, but somehow the sound of the french language does not appeal to me, I must add that I  do not speak or understand it, but it is more the sound that somehow does not appeal to me. I love Italien vocals, although I also donīt understand and speak that language, ...

There are no prog artists i hate, just dislike the music of.

I hate The Clash, Bruce Springsteen, and David Bowie, but they are not prog

a couple of prog albums that get a lot of love that i dislike are King Crimson's Red, and Gentle Giant's Three Friends, i like those bands in general, but god those albums are boring!

What's the problem, Can't I dislike that growls?

Of course you can dislike them. But by characterizing them "annoying sounds", it sounds like you're trying to de-legitimize that vocal style. It's something I see a lot, and it drives me insane.

Neo-prog in all of its variants. From Marillion to Transatlantic (which I consider as such), with anything in between.  Apart from Dark Matter by IQ. Not sure why yet. Just pop music with odd times but without Michael Jackson dancing.

Beatles and the hippie ongoing wave of late symphonic prog coming from that style. Pretending to smoke pot while playing doesn't make you look either smarter or cooler.

DT lovers and detractors alike. For gods sake, they're just musicians not white-robbed tax-free priests to kneel down to or to burn at stake as medieval spanish inquisitors.

Growling singers: not that I hate them, I just don't understand what they're vomiting off their mouth. I'm an old-school man. I prefer understanding rather than accepting passively. Just provide subtitles for the audience. That would be appreciated by many.

Endless songs or suite which could be easily condensed in a much shorter version. What's the point in annoying listeners for 30 minutes long if you can do it in less than 30 seconds? Counter-example: light of day, day of darkness by Green Carnation is 1 hour long. I need more, at least 2 hours of that. No breaks in between.

Geddy Lee's voice. Chris Squire's bass sound. James LaBrie's wrong notes. Genesis without Peter Gabriel.
Neil Peart's hats.

Why is Krautrock usually as joyful and pleasent as a bbq in a desecrated cemetery eating rotten meat baking at midday's summer sun?

Why are Sigur Ros more famous than either Magellan and Explorers Club? I need one single reason, no more.

I'm done. Thanks for the attention.
