I easily prefer Studio Ghibli to anything Bluth/Disney/Pixar have ever made.
|
Pixar: WALL-E, Up Disney: Fantasia, Lion King Ghibli: Spirited Away, Grave of the Fireflies
Result: Who cares whose better, all these movies rock. |
I haven't seen Fantasia :o
I agree though, I was just stating my personal preference :P

i love Gibli but i since some times tends to think the fanboyisme towards it is worse then Tool fanboysime , they forgett that their are other great studios out ther, Spirited Away is one of the best i have seen but a move like the Secret of NIMH who were in its time a remarkeble movie and if you look at the budget they had when they made it, they gave Disney competition to the door, and is also remarkable in its gold to reinvent the way movies were made in the 40s,, the colours used, the use of light, and make it more vivid then that time Disney studio movies, Bluth was animiator at Disney before he went over on his own (him and Goldman), co-animated movies like Sleaping Beauty, 101 Dalamantines, the Sword in the Stone, Robin Hood, the stories about Vinnie Poo, the Rescuers, and partly Two good friends but yeah Gibli is now to what Bluth was in the 80s a serious competition to Disney, Bluth made Disney pull it together which gave them the 90s which were the Disney renessance

For those of you who don't go into the "What Are You Listening To" thread, I made a cool discovery I think a bunch in here would enjoy:
Wires. A lot of wires. But at the end, blasting instruments : a guitar, a saxophone, drums, machines… Skiv could have been such a tweaky “turn-that-button”band, but their roots made of brass, skin and strings are pushing them beyond. We are no more talking about a particular class of music. This is not jazz, not rock, neither electro : here we are listening to a pure new breeding of musical inspiration, sweat, breath and agility.
