Not that I have anyone particular in mind, but is he connected to the Boston Tea Party?

I'm a bit confused here. Is that no to the statement "born before 1860" or simply "no, he was born before 1860"?

And let's see...not an entertainer, not a scientist, not a politician, not an author. He was born British (but not Scottish), but is famous for his involvement in a major historical event in America, where he lived until his timely or untimely death in a leap year.

*sigh*

It shouldn't be this tough to crack.

Was the historical event of a violent nature?

Before that.

Oh hold on... I have conflicting dates due to the calender.  He may or may not have died on a leap year.

No, not violent.  Although unfortunately deaths did occur but there was not any form of conflict.

Something "Mayflower"-ish, mayhaps?

AHA!

Is it John Smith?

I think he's earlier than the Mayflower, though...so I'm biting my nails here.

No, not John Smith.  I don't think he was a passenger.

William Brewster has got a lot of notable descendants. Could it be him?
Although wiki says he died aged 76...

Come on, you're killing me here! LOL

Died April 10, 1644 (age 78)
Duxbury, Massachusetts

Yes it is him. Clap

Apologies for the delay!

I'm still not sure whether he died in a leap year as it says he died in 1643 or 1644.

And yes, he has a ridiculous amount of notable descendants.

Oh and yes, he could have been 76 at death.  Nobody is sure when he was born and as I said above, he died in 1643/44.
