Ironically I am playing far less, and they finally released the PS3 patch Of course my copy was somehow running OK, though lag was starting to become a tad annoying, which supposedly has been fixed. As well as some glitched missions, hopefully the thieves guild so I can finally beat that sh*t. I have enough games to occupy myself for months even if I did nothing but play em all day! A friend gave me the final 2 splinter cells, I got my 360 back so I can now play Lost Planet and I never got around to RE:5 yet. Oi! |

Although I don't have a problem with Ashley being a slut-puppet, you DO NOT f**k WITH WREX

As much as I don't want to admit it, this seems to be the case. It's not the animations or faces, which I don't so much mind if the rest is good. It's the absurd, over-the-top Michael Bay production and pretentious dialogue. One kid gets blown up in shuttle, and supreme a****le Shepard, who roasts factory workers for fun and kills hundreds of thousands of people, gets all teary-eyed. What is that about? Wrex, who is relatively calm and rational even when the future of his people is at stake, gets all emo. He loves a good fight, but is somehow put off by how long Shep takes to complete his mission. Firebrand Ashley Williams has become a slut-puppet whose hairstyle wouldn't pass military inspection on any planet. The Alliance counsel, the head honchos of the human military, are blathering idiots. Military leaders are not weak-willed teenagers commanded by hormones, and they sure as hell wouldn't sit around being insulted by someone who was already stripped of his rank. The whole of the demo is absurd. |

As it's only a demo, let's hope some of this stuff gets sorted although that's what betas are for.
Hmm... sounds a bit concerning! |

ME3 demo.
-Buggy. -Unresponsive. -Faces look awful (really, really, really awful -- like someone took the somewhat-blurry faces of ME2, hit the Sharpen button on Photoshop 7 times, then called it a day). -Animations are often very awkward, in both combat and conversation. -There are some funny-bad background animations. -Everyone got preachy. Instead of being straightforward, Shepard prefaces every statement with some pithy nonsense. Even Wrex won't shut the f**k up. Seriously, WREX. -Clint Mansell's soundtrack sounds promising. -Everything got sped up except the returning-to-cover-animation, which is now insanely slow. In the time it takes to get back behind cover, enemies can tear off all your shields and half your health. -Damage seems insanely random at times, especially from melee. Heavy melee is consistent, for the most part, but regular attacks deal somewhere between zero damage and instagib depending on... something-or-other. -Remember when enemies would skate around in fast motion in Dragon Age? That has now infected Mass Effect. -Remember how cover, run, and use were all one button in ME2, and how that caused all kinds of problems? Well, now it's also roll. And move between cover. The result? You roll out of cover accidentally, you try to enter cover and instead roll face-first into a wall, you try to sprint and end up against a random box, etc, etc. It's messy. |

I do indeed remember HotBot.
Those were the days... no Google and all you ever used was HotBot, Yahoo! and Altavista on Netscape Navigator. Although I used Hastalavista as well. |

My son and daughter have been hogging the consoles recently so I've been playing quite a bit of DS and am amusing myself with this game right now.

^Coming up to 5 years in a few months.
So I did the defrag and that did nothing; I formatted it and it seemed to be back to normal and then it crashed again. Took the case off and gave it a really proper clean to get rid of the tons of dust inside and did another format and it seems fine now. Still doubt it'll last that much longer, though.

I think my PS3 is finally dying.
Booted it up today, seemed fine, deleted a whole bunch of saves from my HDD then turned it off. Came back later, turned it back on and it stopped on a black screen. Disconnected from power (wasn't responding to power button/control input) and then rebooted. Said I should format my HDD, or try later. Selected try later, and now all my games run at ~10FPS if that. :( Sound is also lagging massively. Backed up my gamesaves and gonna try a file-system rebuild (PS3's equivalent of an HDD defrag) and a format if that doesn't help :(

I just had someone on a Valve server constantly complain that I was hacking for about five minutes because I as an engineer killed him while he was invisible with the dead ringer. Frickin pubs...

I finished Ratchet and Clank 2 (Goin' Commando) and the first Devil May Cry, today. After watching Princess Mononoke with the family I may start on Jak and Daxter 1, or perhaps Hitman 2. I'm not too excited over either.
