and you have the Moon Safari album cover as your avatar. That album goes further into the "cheese" than most TFK works do. There are a lot of TFK fans on this site, but in the last few years, the TFK haters have come out of the wood-work. Probably got bored hatin' on Dream Theater.

cause they're a mess of a band that pumps out double CDs with 20 minute songs by the truckload. every album is like Tales From Topographic Oceans. Plus I find Moon Safari is cheesy in a hyper-melodic power-pop sort of way, whereas TFK just ends up sounding like adult contemporary and christian rock sometimes

I know that Yes with Trevor Rabin is generally looked down upon on this site, but it's not Rabin's fault he replaced Steve Howe. The "Endless Dream", from the 1994 "Talk" album is a worthy 90's prog masterpiece. Take a listen and decide.

If the year 2000 is included in the 90s, then Somewhere to Elsewhere by Kansas and Cowboy Poems Free by Echolyn.
If not, Always Never the Same by Kansas.

First I want to say that I consider Neo Prog and Symphonic Prog to be largely overlapping. Having said that my best symphonic album of the '90 is IQ - Subterranea

Yeah, I personally find the distinction between Symphonic and "neo-prog" to be rather pointless... I do wonder if the so-called neo-prog bands would get less hate if only we moved them all to the Symphonic category!

I'm quite sure of this, since some people might start to listen to them instead of having this blind prejudice that all neo is derivative and simple. Here in the Netherlands we call everything in the symphonic and neo catagories "Symfonische Rock" and the distinction is not made.

My favorite of the decade is without a doubt Rocket Scientists' Brutal Architecture.
