My framerate will be slow, I can assure you. In game without even checking it I know this. As I said previously the terrain loads like a huge bitmap loading on dial-up at times. Although once that's loaded it's better but graphics still pause briefly, especially in the Mako.
Edit: I just watched that 360 video. My goodness that's clunky! Even before 1:38 there's major Framerate issues. Is that view of Shepard only available on 360 'cause I'm sure I haven't seen that view from behind him, on my game? Edited by James - December 24 2011 at 19:31 |

Huh? What do you mean? Give me a specific time on a specific video. You're usually over Shep's shoulder, so I'm confused what you could be talking about. |

Oh wait, it's me being dense. Haha. Yes, you're right. I'm sure it's not quite so zoomed out on PC though. I could be wrong.
Anyhow, FRAPS is running, let's check that FPS. |

Hmm, so I'm getting between 18 and 22 FPS. Not good or bad. You're right though, it's limited to 30. My resolution has a 60Hz. refresh rate as you said, so it wouldn't make much difference anyway.

I must agree with Gamemako on this. The 360 version is limited to 30 fps. Even I only get 18-22 fps on my PC. It's tolerable though, as you say. So you obviously do psychologically tolerate a game running at less than 45 fps. Oh and who's computer have you been doing such searches on? Edited by James - December 24 2011 at 20:41 |

Apparently Mass Effect 2 is GPU heavy, so I presume the first game was and so my GPU issues maybe game related rather than GPU related.
I had similar issues with DA:O on a higher setting... not sure if it's the game in that case though. |

DA:O is more CPU-heavy, actually. ME2 runs better than ME1 in general, so if you can tolerate ME1, you'll be just fine in ME2. |

Well Saints Row was fun, an arcady, no attempt at being realistic version of GTA for when GTA got lame.
SR2 was the same sh*t but more lunacy, well my bro picked up SR3 and apparently it's taken reality and shredded it. Was attacked by a gang of cyber ninas that can teleport. Also something about robbing a vault from a bank via helicopter wearing bobble heads and stealing military tanks or idk |

I love GTA but while the uber realism they are striving for is great they have removed some fun elements.I like the two expansions for GTA!V better than the core game.I've been playing SR since the first game and if I want to play an over the top cartoony sandbox game SR is perfect.SR3 really raised it to the next level,it's so ridiculously over the top you have to love it. |

O I agree 110% Jody, GTA 3 and VC were awesome! San Andreas less so, much, but still enjoyable. By the time of 4....dude could barely play it :(
People couldn't get it (though some have agreed) that yeah, they just went TOO realistic with it. It's why I turned to Saints Row and it's blatant ridiculousness and no attempt at realism! People used to lol because it was a knock off, and guess it is but it's just fun and has a nice arcadey feel. Things like pulling hydrants out of the ground, and throwing people like 20+ feet Sounds like 3 has upped it to, even for SR, crazy levels! |

the biggest problem with GTA IV (besides your cousin being a needy w**ker) is that cars and especially bikes are FUGGIN IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE

Anyone done Carmageddon? It's a bit old by now and may not exist in a newer form.

I still thought GTAIV was fantastic - just didn't feel that much like a GTA game to me. Also, the bowling/darts/drinking phone calls got really annoying after a while. @Slart: I haven't played Carmageddon for about 10 years. Awesome fun though. |

Oh yeah Brian, I was a big Carmageddon fan back in my elementary school days, somewhere in 2002 I think. I was even sent home by principal because I described vividly what all you can do in the game to my friends. But right now, I am a lot into Skyrim. I mean, I play this for 6 weeks and still have not enough of it. My save game counter shows something like 350 hours :-D |

My favorite weapon thing was called the electro pedestrian b*****d death ray or something, I think. Just drive by people and brrrrzzzzzzaapppp. I think Carmaggeddon II probably marked the end of my being hooked on PC gaming. There was this level that I couldn't get through despite having a book. The same thing happened to me with Descent 3. Right now I have Civilization IV, MS Flight Simulator X, Jetfighter V, The three Mysts in a combo pack, but really haven't had the enthusiasm to dig into them too far. All dated I'm sure. I still have some of the older discs from when I was more of a gaming enthusiast. One of the cooler things that didn't used to work after Windows 3.1 but I found out does work in Vista is Peter Gabriel's Explora I. I've also got three Monty Python games and the only thing that is functional is the first one they did called The Complete Waste Of Time. I also have the Holy Grail and Meaning Of Life. I think what ultimately killed my enthusiasm was it always seemed like the computer I was using wasn't quite up to snuff and when I got a better one it would have a new version of Windows that wouldn't play nice with it. I actually finished playing GTA IV a few weeks ago. It felt anti-climactic to me. I preferred that driving style over the previous types, personally. Other than that I barely remember anything other than taking a lot of taxis and inane phone calls (which I ignored completely after half an hour of playing). It felt smaller and 'emptier' than San Andreas. Hell, the end of SA had you highjacking planes and assaulting military compounds and violently storming mansions and fighting through the streets in mass gang wars with a small army and chasing crooked cops through the desert in dune buggies and watching the entire city dissolve into chaos in an extended drive/assault//bombing/crack den storming/fire-truck battling finale.
GTAIV just had a few chumps in a ship that I eliminated in one go, with free heaps of body armor and sniper rifle ammunition flung everywhere. And there's buying all sorts of companies and houses and actually working to improve your character in some manageable form. The clothing system was much more varied and open. The missions seemed less repetitive (To me, most of GTA IV consisted of driving for ten minutes then shooting for five, like how Red Dead Redemption was riding a horse for ten to shoot for five). I actually enjoyed the gang turf war mission as well as the expansive feel of the game (complete with forests and mountains and deserts and boondocks and tiny towns as well as the grimy, convoluted cities. The cities also felt more diverse with slums, ghettos, and such). I'm not heaping praise on SA - it's hardly my favorite game. It's not even in the top 15 or so, but I really did have a blast when I played it a couple years back, where I honestly struggled to finish GTA IV. I'm comparing the two. Like I said, I prefer the driving system in IV as well as the slightly more engaging combat aiming system, but it's trivial in the larger scope. For some reason I enjoyed riding from mission to mission in SA where I couldn't hop in a taxi fast enough in IV. Dunno why. Plus, I can't play Rockstar games without feeling insulted anymore. Sure, plenty Americans are conceited, belligerent, money-grubbing, psychopathic, drug-addled hedonist pigs, but I'm sure there are those types of folks in the U.K as well as any other country.

Yes, was all excited about GTA4....within one minute start driving around (like a madman how I'm used to) WHAT THE f**k IS THIS!? The driving controls are realistic!? It was just, impossible! Could not drive, annoying on its own and for GTA a huge problem. I was stubborn, my brother said it got better (though still bad) when you "slow it down" Driving more normally in GTA? No thank you. And besides that the game itself was iunno, just...bleh Saints Row was just flat out stupid fun, arcade feel, no realism Edited by JJLehto - December 25 2011 at 23:37 |

Imported that female renegade ME1 save into ME2 today. Man, I didn't do a particularly good job in ME1, but holy cow, it looked AWFUL when I imported it. Fixed it into a new face that looks somewhat similar, for which the code is
541.86G.HC7.F11.3PI.53R.FM1.711.E51.143.6G3.176 which I am also rather unhappy with (especially the lips and the fact that I had to hide the eye placement issues with eyeshadow), but it looks a lot better than what would have been imported. Arr, why do I suck at making character faces? |

Apparently they got rid of eyelashes or something in the ME2 facegen and the colours don't always match either.
I don't think it's you, I think it's the average facegen engine. |
