Yeah it's all preference but me personally, not sure who you cant love the open world/sandbox games and liner ones are just...linearLOL
Its not prog!

Now sometimes it's fun, I loved the God of Wars and that was straightforward as hell, even Uncharted and really most games are linear. But they are fun! Some of these rpgs are linear + the boringness that may come with rpgsLOL

Eh, I quickly got over sandbox games. Maybe I'm just not creative enough :/

Does TF2 double item drop rate mean that I will get twice as many items if I play until the cap or I will reach the cap twice as quickly?

You have got to be kidding. The lore in TES is so bad, it hurts.

Yeah, I really think other RPGs have better stories and all that, TES was great for it's immersiveness (sp?)  idc

Speaking of which, I try to have life. I do. But, that fell through. Skyrim all night now!

I quite like DA2.  It's not amazing and it's not the first game but I still like it.

I've been playing Mass Effect these past few days.  Now that's a well put together game.  The lore is pretty good too. Big smile

I hear the second one isn't so good but then I know one person who loves it and another who hates it.

And yes, Black Isle (a subsidiary of Interplay) did become Obsidian (whilst some members also joined Troika Games) but members of Black Isle went on to work for BioWare, Obsidian and Ossian Studios (CEO is Alan Miranda).

PS:T, of course, used a modified Infinity Engine which was designed by BioWare.

Don't buy Fear 3. Cheesiest "horror" game I've ever played.

It was fun to play the co-op campaign, but I got bored of it quickly.

ME2 isn't bad. Combat is improved (terrible balance-wise, but man, being a vanguard on insanity is f**king amazing), but the leveling is dumbed down and customization is minimal. The story is somewhat directionless, but the game definitely has its moments. Cutscenes needed to be toned way down, though.

Mass Effect uses the Unreal Engine 3, but nobody is going to say it Epic had anything to do with the game.

Anyway, back to Skyrim. I wish I could win the war for the people by murdering both sides.

Sorry, I sometimes get Bioware and Black Isle confused. I haven't had a chance to play either Dragon Age 1 or 2. I want to, but I've heard they're not up to the same level as others.

And James, regarding Mass Effect 2 - it's as good as the first in different ways. For one, there are more choices. The entire game is based on three aspects - exploration, mission completion, and party balance. To get the 'best' ending, you have to not only have each member of your party respect and trust you, but to also balance each of their conflicting interests (who you have sex with in this game can end up costing you if someone is jealous). Not only that, but you have to know the strengths and weaknesses of each member - who is the best biotic, who cares the most about leading, who knows how to best react under stress. The combat is much more 'involving'. I think the major difference is that ME1 is more exploration and 'epic', while ME2 is almost viciously militant. There's a lot more strategy to the combat, like which weapons are best against which shields (physical /bio) or which weapons can such and so. With that, though, there are fewer options for personalization with the characters.

At the end of the day I love both almost equally. 1 is more of an epic exploration and 2 is more of a gritty military tour. Of course the other aspect I love from the series is how your decisions carry over. Dat ho-bag in number 1 you chose to sacrifice? Well she stays deader than sh*t.

I think you wouldn't care for the 'mining' aspect of #2, but I found it simple and easy to move past. Both are heavily plot-oriented. I guess just take 1, make the combat more slick and engaging, simplify the leveling system (radically, I might add, almost to the point of it scaring me when I first popped the game in), and make the character paragon/renegade slider a major aspect of dialog and in-mission decision-making. All I can say is that ME3 is one of the only games I honestly look forward to.

I really would like to play Arkham Asylum and the newest one. They've been widely hailed.

Some games I want:

Assassin's Creed II
Assassin's Creed III
Dragon Age I
Dragon Age II
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Batman: Arkham City
Anybody know if Rage is worth a damn?
The Stevie Wonder Rock Band 3 pack is on my list, as well.

James, if you really loved me you'd buy me a Christmas present.

I can send you a GotY Edition of Oblivion free of charge... but I may change my mind about it yet...

I've been watching my mate play Skyrim and I'm getting itchy feet now.  Hmm.

Oh and the guy who disliked ME2 disliked it mainly for the lack of weapon upgrades and the different combat.  I've not played ME2 and neither do I own a copy.  I'll have to upgrade my laptop before that happens.

If you can play ME1, you can play ME2. ME2 runs better (for various reasons, not the least of which is that while ME1 was large and open, ME2 is a nightmare for a claustrophobic).

It's not the machine but rather lack of hard disk space and I've uninstalled stuff and still there's very little space.  I've compressed a lot of files too, so it's not a true reflection of the space left.

I liked it- for a while. It's a mix between 1st person shooter/racing and role playing. I got a bit tired of it- AMAZING graphics and sound by the way...

Rage is like a supermodel: pretty to look at, but tremendously vapid.

Then I'll be avoiding Rage for a bit unless I can pick it up for cheaps.

I starting playing Fable II. How come it disappoints me on a regular basis? The most fun I had was chopping wood for fifteen minutes so I could buy the best weapon possible so I could kill bandits that suck. Golly is this game easy.

Gosh, Mass Effect is quite enjoyable.  It took me all evening just to complete one set of quests!  There's a lot of tactical knowledge required and as this is my first playthrough, it takes a bit longer.

Yesterday I played the free DLC and that was also quite difficult.  It took me ages to navigate myself through those blast caps.  Grr!

I found a way in the end though.

So I sometimes see Heavies pick up their minigun and run, how are they doing that? I am probably dumb but I cannot find anywhere what the deal with that is.
