I'm pretty sure I would not detect a change in taste and how does your wife cope with these foibles?
You'll never know unless you try the experiment - if you can tell a difference in the taste of different varieties of apple you should be able to detect a change in the flavour of freshly picked apple over one of the same variety that has been stored. I don't have a particularily decerning palate and can easily notice the change. My foibles are what makes me me - like I can't stand pears but love pear cider and perry yet don't like apple cider much (I can drink it but prefer not to) - my wife hates both because (to her) they smell like vomit.

Between you and your wife pretty much everything smells of vomit.LOL

I'll try this apple experiment next year.

I don't think two items constitutes "everything" LOL. I suspect the cider thing is the result of drinking a quart of Bulmers woodpecker cider (or a couple of bottles of white lightning for the ladies) as a teenager and failing to keep it down - which I guess many of us may have experienced either directly or indirectly.
What?

If you google "orange pie" you’ll find a pornographic anime … but also this one that combines apples and oranges:

http://www.dessert.net.au/apple-orange-pie/

Never tried it, though. It’s probably good.

Oh dear. I really should have checked I just didn't recall a poll like this. Sorry all.

BTW. Oranges are more than one colour. There are green skinned oranges too.

No problem. It's just that I have a good memory.
Oranges which are green: yes, but never green and orange at the same time.
Apples are the ELP of fruit, oranges the Elvis Presley of fruit.

Blood orange. The opposite of same sh*t, new wrapping. And I’ve eaten deliciuos oranges with half green, half orange skin. Does that make them progressive? Maybe this could be the theme of a new poll?

orange pie sounds vile, though orange cake is wonderful when you can find it; I grew up in California so tree fruit was the most common thing around.   Faves are Honeycrisp and Gravenstein apple juice, and the thin-skinned oranges.

..and Dean, stop being so pithy.

He likes to take the pith. That is the core of his problem. Keep your eyes peeled for more comments. Some juicy posts to come I expect. Pip pip!

Core! you're being zesty this morning, where does this stem from? The seeds of this must be skin deep or are they from another segment (the quality of this post leaves a lot to be desired, I could be barking up the wrong tree here or just branching out from the root of the issue, but given time I'll twig-on as there is always someing budding that will blossom into a more fruitful thought)
