I agree.

Really not that keen on it at all now.

Supposedly the old build/basic stuff which went into the game was made by Kojima Productions but a lot of it was scrapped and now the game is being developed by Platinum Games who basically only ever make hack n slashes.

The graphics look pretty good for a console title (MGS4 still looks amazing for it's time) and the physics engine looks pretty cool too. That being said, I really don't buy or play Metal Gear games to slice someone into 35 pieces. Not to mention it looks kinda gimmicky. I guess if the game allows you to play using stealth, you could pull off some amazing manoeuveres although the trailer doesn't look like it'll let you do that at all.

Something else which is looking really interesting:

If that's actually being rendered by the PS3 then Naughty Dog have surprised me yet again. Somehow I think this is going to end up playing like Uncharted in the world of I Am Legend, though. If it's an open world/RPG-ish game then I'm keen.

I just saw that. I'm skeptical with zombie games now-a-days.

Oh and..

Why is Ellen Page carrying a knife?

YES! Glad I'm not the only one who thought that.

The hair, the clothing, the voice/way she speaks, it's uncanny.

From the trailer I saw on the VGA's last night it looked like they were dealing with some kind of infected beings, like in 28 days or I Am Legend.

Plus,an apocalypse with humanity on the brink of extinction doesn't stop some people from killing.Read The Stand or almost any other apocalyptic fiction,it happens.

Yeah, to eliminate competition for the few remaining resources and to get the resources the other person has scavenged. I'm not remotely interested in zombie games because zombies suck, but that trailer as good thematically as a zombie thing can get.

Naughty Dog is one of my favorite developers.
I have a boner for this already.

I hope it's not open wold. I hate open world games.

Well certainly looks astounding graphically, but I would expect nothing less from naughty dog.

Will have to look into it/hear opinions because yeah...the whole zombie thing is lame these days, never even got around to playing RE:5!
Cool to see something be system exclusive. Not that I care, especially having both but you just don't see it these days really.

For anyone that's interested, gog.com (formerly Good Old Games) are doing a series of holiday giveaways, starting with Empire Earth: Gold Edition today which is free for download for the next 48 hours.

http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/empire_earth_gold_edition

Also, bought Rayman 2 and 3 from there 2 days ago and been playing them for hours on end. So much nostalgia in those games. Rayman 3 kinda sucks compared to 2, though.

Humble Indie Bundle 4 is now live. Pretty good deal, considering you can name your price.

Kojima finally does an interview about Metal Gear Rising:

Main stuff to take away if you can't be bothered to watch the whole video

-He wanted his team to be working on MGS5 when he was planning another project; they felt uncomfortable about him not being involved. Decided to do a spin-off, and thus Metal Gear: Rising was born.

-Originally going to be set between Metal Gear Solid 2 and 4. Now it's set after MGS4.

-Etsu Kamari (wrote a lot of MGS4) is back to do the story.

-At the end of 2010, Kojima decided the game would be cancelled; cites the lack of decisiveness on game design (trying to choose between full action, full stealth gameplay/any hybrids) as the main reason.

-Instead, chose to hand the development over to another company; chose Platinum Games ('Bayonetta','Vanquish') to finish the project, saying 'The only studio I felt that could do this was Platinum Games; If anybody could do it, it would be them'

-The current production split is basically Platinum working on action/gameplay and Kojima Productions doing the story/characters/cutscenes with some crossover on both sides.

It's looking more interesting, although at this point it's clear it's going to be an action game and definitely not follow the normal Metal Gear gameplay formula.

Seems like it might be alright; don't know at this stage.

The slicing mechanics do seem gimicky now, though. It's cool to be able to slice basically everything, yes; but should you have to slice every enemy in half or cut every boss into 40 pieces? I'd hope not.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-12-13-the-last-of-us-preview
Quote Contrary to evidence in the trailer, however, The Last of Us is "not a zombie game," insists Straley. Druckmann explains: "If the game was about the monsters, we would have not showed them. The story's not about them, so [we thought] let's get it out of the way."
Quote Major artistic inspirations, meanwhile, include the movies No Country For Old Men and The Road, comic The Walking Dead and WWII novel City of Thieves.
Quote  And not just any old story, but one Druckmann wants to "change the f***ing industry" with - "because we feel like storytelling is so poor right now". Aside from the all too few likes of Valve, Irrational and Rockstar, it's hard to disagree.
Quote When the fruits of this labour of love will be shared with gamers, no-one is saying. And, in the wake of the brutal crunch endured by the Uncharted 3 team in order to meet a release date it recklessly announced a year in advance, that should come as no surprise.

"We will never do that again, not a year out," sighs co-president Christophe Balestra. Wells agrees: "The minute we saw [the date] on screen we were like, oh god, I really regret that."

I know it's a tad blasphemous in the wake of Skyrim's sprawl, but I finished playing Fallout III again and must admit that it's my all-time favorite Bethesda release.
