I'm loving it so far, I'm definitely gonna give it a few more playthroughs. Fantastic game. So the Skyrim patch just dropped for PS3 and the Bethesda forums are reporting equal amounts of people saying it fixes everything, people saying it fixes nothing, and people saying it fixes the lag but breaks the game in tons of other places, etc. Downloaded the patch, will try it out tomorrow. Not really feeling optimistic though. |

Thanks to Joel
Quantic Dream needs to re-release this game using the Heavy Rain engine. More people need to play this.

Oh yeah, even for its time (end of XBOX era) the graphics are pretty crap but an awesome game. My bro and I loved the demo but like everyone else, we forgot because the 360 came out. Glad it's gotten some more attention after HR but still criminally unheralded Edited by JJLehto - November 28 2011 at 23:30 |

^Indeed. I'd love for a new version with live motion capture. Also, even though the graphics aren't fantastic the animations still aren't bad at all. Some of the weather effects are pretty cool too. Skyrim patch did basically nothing for me. Reduced my save-file size by 2mb although I still have unplayable lag in basically any city/wooded area. Gonna try to return the game methinks. Not even remotely enjoying the game anymore. Just called EB Games and they said its too late for a return, which is fair enough methinks since they got ripped off by getting crap inventory the same way I did. Gonna send Toddy H a nice email and see if I can get my money back. Edited by progkidjoel - November 28 2011 at 19:22 |

Maybe everyone's version is crap?
I've noticed Colin has been playing Vampire: The Masquerade on Steam. I've been meaning to check that out for some time. Is it any good? Edited by James - November 29 2011 at 11:02 |

Brilliant game, one of the better RPG's I've ever played. If you get it, make sure to get the community patch. |

I've played Temple of Elemental Evil by the same software house (I think anyhow) and that's also bug ridden but the games they made were pretty good.
So it's one I'm definitely interested in. I saw it at CEX once but didn't buy it and when I went back it had gone. It's on Steam though. However, I really need a new hard drive as this one has little space left. Edited by James - November 29 2011 at 22:22 |

It's definitely worth 5 or 6 playthroughs, minimum - one of the few games where race selection actually is a total gamechanger. Also, I may have misjudged the Skyrim patch - any new games I start are smooth beyond belief, but my main save is still pretty bad. Not keen to give up on 55 hours of playtime though. |

I've started my third character - gotten his pickpocket skill to level 100, which is amazing.
What I do is I'll pay a trainer to train me, then pickpocket the cash, then use the thefted cash to pay for more training. So far he's a level 30 with 100 pickpocket, 80 smithing, and 70 archery. I have an epic glass dagger with the assassin's blade sneak perk granting the 15x damage multiplier. Have yet to encounter a single real game glitch or, bug, or crippling issue. Smooth as a baby's butt, but much better looking.

Nope, even after 48 hours mine is running perfectly, as is my brothers and 3 friends. I should look into those Steam games. Got lots of indie games that looked pretty cool but never wanted to risk buying em. I got some help from people with one handed fighting and magic, but my sneaking, lockpicking and pickpocketing is all me! Also I got the skeleton key. I'm supposed to return it and complete the thieves guild mission, but I'll just hold onto it for.....the rest of the game NO LOCK CAN STOP ME NOW Edited by JJLehto - November 30 2011 at 02:12 |

I was already pretty beast, most locks were no issue at all for me and I even got the hang of expert and master level. That skeleton key is just damn easy though. I want to beat the thieves guild so soonish I'll cave and return it.

Not at all.
It is funny, we got pissed at this guy and killed him for stealing the Skeleton Key, and now I'm holding onto it HAH! But it's a legit game item, and you don't HAVE to return it. I'm thievey enough already, really need to focus on my blocking, one handed and probably some magic stuff. |

So I installed HL2, and after all the complaints I have posted in this thread you may be surprised to hear I am really enjoying it. I still think they made some really dumb design decisions (which if my memory is correct I will probably be more annoyed about in the future), but it makes a big difference when you are playing it on a computer that can actually run it. On my old laptop the draw distance was so low because of the sh*tty Intel integrated graphics card if I stood at the back of Dr Vance's lab, the other end had fog...I disabled the fog, which made the game actually playable, but when so much of HL is atmosphere, completely crippling the graphics has a huge impact. Instead of getting angry, the physics "puzzles" (which are really just tasks since even a five year old would not have difficulty figuring them out) are just making me nostalgic for 2003 when having separate objects like that was the coolest f**king thing. I even liked Alyx instead of finding her annoying, I must be getting lonely. |
