I don't think that word means what you think it means.

So it isn't the music you dislike but something Wilson has said?

Well I haven't heard him whining but even if he has( or maybe did he just say) and I definitely haven't heard him stealing from floyd or Crimson. And even if he had the music is still great!Tongue

No, I know what it means. All the rounds that have included Spock's Beard have been call to controversy.

I'm not even considering people who may be registering here just to vote. The poll numbers have been around the same for every round.

Porcupine Tree will beat any band put up against them, except maybe Dream Theater, but there's a lot of DT haters so I don't know...

I think the ratio of SW haters to DT haters is equal. I don't really care much for either though, but I'm just a downer.

So maybe if it winds up being DT vs PT, the Steven Wilson haters will vote DT, and the DT haters will vote PT Tongue

This site would eat itself in horrible rage.

And that's exactly the thing that's wrong with prog these days imho. In the 70s prog had a lot of positivity, especially Yes with Jon's spirituality (although one may rightfully point out there was, and is, not much peace among the band members themselves), and nowadays all that positivity is replaced by cold negative emotionless crap. And I blame Roger Waters and Steven Wilson for it. It's even more infuriating that bands who do try to be positive, such as The Flower Kings or Spock's Beard, are being ridiculed. Well excuse me, if progressive means to be emotionless, then I'd rather not be progressive at all.

You can be negative and emotional. Sorry if you can't listen to it.

TFK and SB are ridiculed because they are retro-symph, and in my opinion aren't really any good.

^ I don't believe in the term retro symph. And even if there was such a thing, why ridicule? I just don't get it. I don't really care for your opinion otherwise.

Same reason neo-prog has a lot of criticism. The sound is just so 70's - the sound is far too familiar and isn't creative anymore.

Just my opinion. It's okay if you disagree. Confused

The Beard does use lots of elements of 70s prog. However, I they put them together in a unique way. More so than TFK for sure, but in Roine's defense, he was a 70s progger, so he doesn't deserve all the flak he gets for just continuing to make his music.

Like i said it's just my opinion.

I just don't think having your music resemble music 35 years ago is creative.

Hmm, I hear a difference between neo-prog bands and bands like Transatlantic, Spocks Beard, Flower Kings, Karmakanic, etc..

They don't sound like they're from the 70s or 80s
