It's amazing gentleman! First things I noticed: Voice acting is way better and doesn't use the same goddamn 6 voice actors over and over like in Oblivion. NPC's react pretty damn well to things you do, without the fake, contrived feel. Character creation is way more diverse, tons of things to change and the defaults/preset faces are actually usable. The intro sequence is way better than in any of the other games. Combat feels quicker and much more dangerous, and losing stamina is actually important now, meaning the difference between an easy battle and death depending on how you play it. Magic and archery are much more viable in close combat, with destruction being buffed massively and archery being super deadly. The gameplay is much, much harder and the game is a lot less forgiving in combat. I've died 4 or 5 times to bandits now, although it really depends on your approach. Also expect to see more group on group combat than Oblivion. Enemies actually fight and don't just idly swing weapons and charge at you now. Graphics are a lot better and run a lot smoother than Oblivion (PS3 version). Expecting PC to look amazing. Game is still buggy in parts (sound in the opening sequence sounded like it was through a phone to me) and frame rate drops in seemingly non-busy areas are frequent. This is running the (pre!) release patch, 2.00. Loading screens are VERY infrequent, usually lasting around 15-20 seconds and are actually interesting with interactive 3D models of items/characters/models from the game. Questing is much more dynamic and feels like you're actually accomplishing something. Levelling up makes you much stronger and perks are great. You'll also level up much quicker than in Oblivion. Craftng/cooking/collecting/hunting/etc is absolutely amazing and adds a ton of depth. I spent about 2 hours making weapons for fun immediately after the opening sequence. tl;dr this game is amazing. |

You just teal deered and didn't say much about the game. How did you manage that?
So... is it repetitively boring and has a terrible story? Anyhow, some mate's of mine have it in the UK now too. I expect to see lots of random Facebook updates later. It does sound better though. I shall wait a while (as I'll have to, as my PC is old now and I don't play Consoles) and see what the general reviews are like. My mate upstairs may end getting it too, so I'll watch him playing it and see how long it is until I get bored. |

^Who plays (most) video games for plot these days? Sure, you got Mass Effect and Planescape Torment, and even the first Bioshock has some interesting, literate approaches, but in all, I don't play games for 'plot'. I play them for immersion. I play them in hopes of metaphorically drugging my mind to forget all the crap my daily life heaps on me. Most rpgs just tend to fall within that particular category. Also, I don't ever play games for multiplayer. I hate me some multiplayer. I could never play with people online anymore. If it's multiplayer, they have to be sitting in my living room. I only play the Rock Band games with friends/family in mind. I really enjoy that experience.
I must say, though, that Joel there makes me salivate over it. Curse you! It sounds so fun and stuff! I can't afford it just yet. Maybe by Christmas...

Joel unfortunately hasn't made me want to play it any more than I wanted to before.
Indeed, immersion is what I want as well but that usually involves some kind of decent plot as well for me. It's not vital but it helps. I also rarely ever play or enjoy online multiplayer games. |

And I didn't even pick up my copy! Should get on that. And sounds sweet Joel. Yeah, alot of people were going rage rockets over the new fighting system and I thought "it sounds like you actually fight now" opposed to just swinging and maybe blocking. People are such conservative sillies, god forbid you change one thing even if it's a good one. I know many people were also freaking out over the new leveling up system, but honestly the old one didn't seem to do anything much IMO, so whatever. f**k da haters I want to save my $ for a while but U3, Skyrim, and Dark Souls....wtf Edited by JJLehto - November 10 2011 at 13:40 |

Ah, a stolen idea from Heavy Rain. Not a bad thing though, anything to help break up the loading pauses. |

$108, which is $109 US because we accidentally the currency. Until recently it stayed around .80 to a dollar which is still a ripoff for the game pricing. |

I've not played Heav Rain but seem to remember this from another game. Didn't Morrowind have something like this already? |

No, Morrowind just had text...I can't think of any other game that had what he is describing, but Fable 2 at release was the last full retail game I played, so... |
