I'm not a fan of her music, but sure he had a great voice.

It really shocked me, I knew her condition was deteriorating too fast (Apart from the addiction, she had emphysema), it's sad, she entered to the 27 years club with people like:

  1. Jim Morrison
  2. Janis Joplin
  3. Jimmy Hendrix
  4. Curt Cobain (Nirvana)
  5. Brian Jones (Rolling Stones)
  6. Ron Mc'Kernan (Grateful Dead)
  7. Helmut Kollen (Triumvirat)
  8. Gary Thain (Uriah Heep)
  9. Alan Wilson (Canned Heat)
  10. Pete Ham (Bad Finger
  11. Shanon Hoon (Blind Melon)
  12. Steven Gaines (Lynyrd Skyynyrd)
  13. Kristen Pfaff (Hole)
  14. Les Harvey (Stone the Crows)
  15. Robert Johnson (Blues musician who started the tragic list in 1938)
Among many more.

Really gutted to hear this news. I loved Amy Winehouse's music and her voice. I was hoping for a come-back but sadly not to be. Now her struggle to find happiness in her life is over. God Bless! RIP Amy Cry

Not a fan of her voice, her repertoire and her lifestyle but it's sad indeed. I hope you find peace, Amy.

Anyway, I'm really anger with the quick change of focus by the press. The tragedy in Norway needs reflection and the media is dealing with this case as it were only a sensation to be highlighted - not a surprise since media owners and bosses are basically are made with the same stuff of the shooter.

Very talented voice, that soulful sound she had was something special. Not many around now that can sing like her, tragic she could not get her life in order.

Don't know her music at all, and can't say this is a surprise in the least.
As someone said earlier, kind of amazing it took this long.

Is always sad though, especially to think how you can be so young and have so many demons. Clearly had some pretty deep issues.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Her songs communicated a deep inner sadness.

I read, while being interviewed by Spin magazine, she broke off talking to carve her then-boyfriend Blake Fielder-Civil's name into her stomach with a shard of mirror.

Try this one on, we all have difficulties in our lives.  If our ultimate destiny is to become famous and die young, so be it.  I will do neither and have myself a good time not doing it. 

Just make sure you do it right the first time because nothing is worse than being a suicide chump.

I wasn't too keen on her music myself, but that's because it just wasn't to my tastes rather than it being objectively bad - I could tell she had a fearsome talent on her.

Probably the saddest part of this story for me is how incredibly unsurprised I was when I read the news. It's been, what, five years since her last album, and she spent most of that getting more attention for her drug problems than for her music.

The tabloid headlines about it this morning are absolutely disgusting.

She was great, and i loved the way she made a very old style of female singing, famous again.
