Thanks for the heads up Todd, regarding that reissue! Just need a sugar mama and her bank account, and I´ll be on cloud nine with a huge stereo!

Alright here goes. I´ve been wondering about something, that, most likely, only those who are Italians can answer. Up here in Scandinavia, the different languages are very close to each other, - which means that I can perfectly understand what, either a Norwegian or a Swede is saying to me - as long as he doesn´t use slang or ramble along like a rapper on caffeine. Finland, Iceland and The Faeroe Isles are pretty much outside this rather peculiar circle of understanding, and I have no understanding of their lingo.
So, during my French studies, I picked up quite an amount of words, sentences and different characteristics - which seemed to lie very close to those of the Italian language. It´s a different intonation, just like Swedish is far more melodic than danish - which is very flat, - but either way, a lot of the things i do pick up when I´m listening to RPI, I manage to do through French. It´s the same way around with Spanish, that also features a lot of common ground with the French. A long time ago, I had Latin, and because I enjoyed The Doors (The End - and all of it´s connotations) I got really caught up in it, and ever since I´ve seen many similarities in languages, - and especially between Italian, Spanish and French. I know it´s not entirely the same as up here in the cold north, but here´s my question: Do you understand each other on some sort of level? OR am I totally offConfused

I've been saying that now for several years!  It's really amazing how deep the Italian Progressive scene was and is.  But what a wonderful, beautiful journey of discovery!

Triade is wonderful!  I think my favorite of the 70s keyboard based bands are Latte e Miele, Le Orme, and Metamorfosi, but Triade is certainly right up there in the top five or six.

Of the more current keyboard driven bands, check out Nuova Era.

Uhhh - that sounds very interesting. Just checking the Giovane Madre track off that album. Gotta love those PA streams.
Alright - I´m sold, only took me a minute. You are a very bad man Jim - don´t you know you will put me out on the street with those sorts of recommendations?LOL
But seriously, thanks buddy, I will certainly look for that oneThumbs Up

That was just reissued by Esoteric.  I haven't heard their version, but they generally do a good job with their reissues, I think.  It had been out of print for a while, so the reissue is quite welcome.

Yup.  Like Rusticelli Bordini and Toto Torquati, Triade is a keys-lover's delight that gets too little attention.  Good pick.

^So wonderful to see other people getting lured into the sceneBig smile
The more you explore - the further you look into the bands - their offshoots - lost gems and whatnot, you´ll eventually see the the scene branching out in all kinds of different facets and colors. It is unbelievable just how many styles and approaches were investigated, and furthermore how successful and brilliant some of these recordings are. The journey seems endless - thank goodness. You´ve got Symphonic, Avant garde, Heavy, Jazzy, Doomish and on and on. Just to promote myself (I am so narcissisticLOL) and a fair slice of the bands, be sure to check some of the RPI polls, - you just might find some music that really resonates with you.

Just got that myself only a month ago, and it grabbed me right away. Less wild than many other RPI albums but beautiful nonethless? And what variety! Touches of more than a few styles on this one.

Have you heard much of the other members of The Big Three? Le Orme & Banco?    Or Osanna? (Probably my favourite group.)

Of course, this is the place for recommendations too - the RPI team and fans here are so very, very knowledgeable. In my circle of associates I am a Giant of RPI knowledge etc whereas here I am but an Infant! Wink

Any favs? Smile I'm quite new to RPI too and I'm constantly amazed, but also dazzled by the amount of albums and artists (but it's a good thing - as there's lots for me to buy in the future!)

Storia di un Minuto by Premiata Forneria Marconi is the early favourite. Smile

Acqua Fragile are pretty good. A bit of Genesis and Gentle Giant in their sound. The first is the better of the two IMO.

By the way vocalist Bernado Lanzetti ( who went on to join PFM after AF) has just released a new album on Esoteric Recordings with Cavalli-Cocchi, Lanzetti, Roversi.

^You should try the new Watch album thenWink Sounds like Genesis in the 70s, if Gabriel had never left. I was very hesitant and critical when first approaching these guys, but they´ve somehow managed to get under my skin. Who needs originality, if the band plays like a band you´d wish had made more albums in their prime? I am a convert so to speakSmile

Thanks Wink

I really like the Acqua Fragile album... It may be seen as a Genesis ripoff but it's ok for me, I'm a sucker for Genesis kind of prog Tongue
