I will listen to St. Anger repeatedly until my ears bleed before playing any of these dogs that somehow made their way onto our humble home.

I dunno, considering their relatively high profile, something by Camel should fit the bill. Late to the party with generic anodyne, innocuous mush. I nominate the Snow Goose though it could easily have been Moon Madness. Unbelievably this stuff was released in '75 and '76 respectively, where had they been? Make Renaissance sound like King Crimson. Elevator music.

I think St. Anger is really overrated as a terrible album, but what do I know, I actually like the sound of the trashcan drums...
No. This discussion inherently is applying "objective" criteria (since the topic is not what albums do you hate the most on PA), and Leng T'che can easily be described as "objectively" better than Simon Railton. Naked City knows what they are doing and want to sound like that, even if you don't like what they want to do. Simon Railton is hopelessly amateur and just really bad (so is Satan Alfa Beel Atem). Heartscore is another good one of someone who needs to practice more before releasing albums to the world. Edited by Henry Plainview - July 06 2011 at 05:07 |

Deyss seem to get a lot of hate, even from people who usually like neo-prog. Particularly their debut: http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=264
Personally I'm surprised Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music isn't listed on the site. It's a double album consisting of four long, side-long tracks, depending heavily on unconventional instrumental performances, and which (according to its creator) is replete with references to classical music. We love Tales from Topographic Oceans and Third on here so why no recognition for Lou Reed's most progressive album, his magnum opus in which he masterfully shows his command of his instrument and his compositional abilities to bwahaahahahahahahaha I can't even type it with a straight face.

I actually own Metal Machine Music. Unfortunately, it's not as much fun on repeat listenings. |

I don't get these threads. It's all a matter of taste after all. But bad taste does exist ![]()
Leng Tch'e is a pretty good album for doom-metal/drone metal/avant-garde enthusiasts. You can only pretend it's bad if you: 1) like neo-prog or Dream Theater or generic prog metal bands that try too hard to imitate DT 2) can't separate art with a sense of originality from meritless copies (see item 1) 3) have bad taste in music (see item 1)

![]() No explanation other than I also really dislike the coverart - and especially the tacky photographs of the three gentlemen fooling around in the woods that you see within the gatefold. I haven't listened to it for years - so my judgement is not sound. I think there are many candidates for "worst album on PA" and that no thorough comparison with regards to badness really can be made.

If your judgement was sound it would make for a far less appealing listening experience than this album ![]() |

Yes me ![]() I´ve got some weird tastes as well, but this album just doesn´t work for me. Give me Ummagumma, Trout Mask Replica, Dark Magus or some Residents and I´ll be whistling in your garden wearing a diving suit and a lava brassier.

Leng Tche is not music. It's not good doom metal. It's not good noise. It just blows. Misanthropic, actively painful to listen to at first but then decaying into monumental boredom. What's more, it's a completely emotional and visceral intent performed completely from the left brain. Monumental failure. |

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

Speaking of Trout Mask Replica, I was just reading this old list done for theguardian.co.uk in 2007 where various musicians were asked "to nominate the supposedly great records they'd gladly never hear again", and that is one of those albums listed. So is Dark Side of the Moon, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Pet Sounds, and LA Woman by the Doors.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2007/jun/15/popandrock Yes, old news is old news, and I don't expect many would care about such lists, but..... Edited by Logan - July 06 2011 at 11:30 |

Well everybody´s entitled to their opinion, but music will always be subjective. As long as they´ll let me have my fun with Trout Mask, Dark Side, Pet Sounds and L. A. Woman. I happen to enjoy all of those. I don´t really get why Trout Mask is in there, because unlike all of the others mentioned - it never, and I do mean never gets any airplay, unless you´re plugged into some sort of obscure internet radio. All the others might suffer from serious overplay, not Trout Mask. I think it says more about these musicians, and their tastes if anything. They have probably never liked it, but jumped on the hipster train and all the fabulous reviews alongside the majestic position it sits at after Rolling Stone mentioned it as one of the most important rock albums of all time.
