I've heard some of the best, but I was wondering- perhaps out of morbid fascination- what are the worst albums on PA? Be it the lowest rated, or simply the worst music here?

Most of the people who would say it's the worst haven't bothered to rate it

Does this also include demo tapes ? Well, I reviewed and then sold a Abigor demo again and bought a vacuum cleaner for the money. The difference is that the vacuum cleaner is more musical than that demo + it is a very good vacuum cleaner too. You cannot go wrong with a Dyson vacuum cleaner. Just had my best laugh of the day. I've heard one Abigor album, and it was actually very good; although it was their latest one. I would say just studio albums, because its taken for granted that demos aren't all too bright for the most part. I remember hearing a Triumvirat album that made me puke.

A krautrock record called Beak>, which is a collaboration between the drummer from Portishead and two other dudes. This record tries too hard to be kraut - it´s motorik, improvised and dull. No feel whatsoever, and certainly you can use that as an uncomfortable segment in the songs, but when it just goes on and on...
It´s not that it is badly played or it doesn´t contain ideas, but the overall result is just meh and grey. Like licking a lamppost trying to distinguish a flavor.

I'm going to go out on a real limb here and say F#A#Infinity. I know it has a 4+ average here but it is definitely the worst album I've ever heard, just that bit worse that Torman Maxt's The Problem with Pain and Queensryches Operation Mindcrime II.

Worst album I've ever reviewed on PA is Matching Mole's début from 1971.

Although I enjoy a fair slice of John Zorn´s music, and it has recently gotten some kind words, I do really detest Leng Tch´e
And yes that Torman Maxt album was an atrocious album as well, even if it was a free download...

Interesting thread. I wonder how long it will last before a deluge of People Who Think They're Clever will start posting links to Dream Theater albums (my money's on ToT being the most linked-to, with maybe Systematic Chaos in there as well and a nice Honourable Mention to WDADU).
The worst prog album I've ever heard (in my fairly limited experience) is probably KC's Earthbound. The music itself isn't terrible, but the production is unbearably awful. You can't even listen to it. I've got live recordings from the 30s and 40s that put this album to shame. |
