^This. I think that most of the Yes masterpieces end up higher in my list than those of Rush, but the sophisticated lyrics of Rush are too far ahead of the Yes crap.

I enjoy them equally and feel that they have equal importance to prog music. Dependant on mood I will either listen to one or the other of the two.

My two all-time favorite bands. Love them equally, however for slightly different reasons.

This coming from the guy with a metalocalypse avatar?
Equal for me. At their prime, Yes was no doubt superior, but Rush's consistency is unparalleled.

This is not even close to me. Rush has some nice songs and albums that truthfully I have grown to love less given time. Yes release 7 timeless albums, and Steve Howe is still my favourite guitar player. |
Yes indeed.

They're both nerdy. I'll go with Yes, hands down. Rush is overrated

I'm so mad that you enjoy a certain combination of noises that I don't

Early Yes is amazing, musically. Lyrically it is soooo tough to follow what Jon was writing. A lot of mindless bantering, almost seance like...spooky!
Rush win for me with much better lyrics and musically those 3 Canucks can run circles around pretty much any 4-5-6 pc band.
But its still close......Topographic Oceans is brilliant.

Rush is my #1 favorite band. Yes is my #2. Vote goes to Rush.

The point with Jon's lyrics is not to follow them, but let yourself into the moods and mental landscapes that his words evoke. What's a "pc band"? Classic prog? That would be "cp". And yes, TFTO is fantastic indeed.

I love both equally, they serve different purposes for my musical mood, so no vote.

Well Jon does a good job most of the time as you can't follow his lyrics...agree there. As far as moods/mental landscapes, I enjoy that very much......just not all the time.
pc = piece

Of the famous progressive rock bands these are two bands I can't really get into. Yet the Yes album is acceptable and I can't stand any Rush album because of the sound and the vocals.
