Not my call, I didn't manage to take a vote. You gotta ask other guys from team.
There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

Even if you did I doubt it would be enough to overrule the majority here.

Sad, really sad.

It0's great tio give an opinion without having responsibility.

I agree with Xover Team, has complex and elaborate material more related to Heavy than to Crossover, but at the end and after listening all the album...Prog Related would be fine.

Haven't managed to get there and vote in time, thinking about other votes, listening other music than voting ones...

For situations where someone does not want to vote, there is NO VOTE option. Note that it's different than voting NO. I usually vote NO VOTE in case there are not enough samples.

This time however, other members were faster.

While they had bits of prog, especially in the songs posted on this thread, the majority of what I heard is just post punk.
If another team wants them, I have no problem with that.
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

What we call "Crossover Prog" is that side of art rock that touches the mainstream via emphasis on the melodic content - I can't really see this band fitting this context.

That's exactly why I'm surprised they were rejected.

But whatever, my opinion isn't going to change their decision anyway.

I don't remember this band being accessible or melodic, more like being maybe eligible for Heavy Prog based on the first sample.

I'll get back with my final impression after I listen to the whole album.

Wait, I get to be dictator, right? Cos I already got a hat picked out and everything...

No, but your cash might change our minds.

Then again, we're still living off that Bjork windfall...

No, don't get me wrong, it is not like I'm actually trying to give you guys a hard time or anything, it is just that it came as a HUGE surprise the fact that this band was not approved. I mean, I'm completelly mind-blown because, as I see, they would fit perfectly in the genre's style.

Try and take a little time over this one guys - they have a new album coming out in less than three weeks (Oct 11) called "Conversation Piece". Some songs from it have already been uploaded on YouTube:

First the two official ones:

Now one that was uploaded much earlier in the year:

And now the band playing some new material live:

Not really my sort of music, so I won't comment further.

Edit: Other than to say it's available here: http://new.merchnow.com/catalogs/a-lot-like-birds in three different packages: - on its own, with a poster, or with a poster and a t-shirt.

Tracklist for anyone interested is:

1) Orange Time Machines Care
2) Think Dirty Out Loud
3) Vanity's Fair
4) Properties Of Friction
5) Truly Random Code
6) Abbr.
7) The Blowtorch Is Applied To The Sugar
8) A Satire Of A Satire Of A Satire Is Tiring
9) Sesame Street Is No Place For Me
10) Tantrum (Far From The Tree, The Apple Grew Rotten)
11) What Didn't Kill Me Just Got Stronger
