Yo, you too?

What's up, Alan?

Not much. I just got back from grocery shopping, and I'm starting to think I might have developed chronic fatigue syndrome. Soon I'll be going to a friend's birthday bbq cookout thing.

Right now I'm watching Drag Me to Hell and refusing to work on my nearly-finished English report.

What are you up to?

Being sore from a double-header last night and tired from not sleeping. LOL And listening to Colin Stetson which kind of ups my mood.

My wife is to participate in an event on June 18 at the mall promoting and selling her cakes.  We had to pay a fee to do this.  The rep agreed to hold our check until after I got paid, as I told her that was the only way my wife could participate.  All good.

Well, the check got deposited this morning.  So our account fell into the red, and we got hit by a $35 overdraft fee to boot.

Angry

We've managed to get the fee waived and we borrowed some money to cover our account, but for f**k's sake I wish people would show some measure of competence and honor.  The rep was genuinely sorry for this error, but had we not been able to borrow the funds to cover us (and get the fee waived), apologies would not have been good enough, because I wouldn't be able to use our bank account to pay bills (since any deposits I'll be making this upcoming week will go to satisfy the negative balance) and I won't be able to pay a bill, which would mean being disconnected from that service.

So how have everyone else's mornings been?

That remembers me a bit of how we tried to rent a car during our seaside holiday last year. We checked the website and in order to do a "pre-reservation" on it we were asked to enter out credit card info (just for identification purposes). Then we went to their quarters, where we didn't get the car in the end because of a mandatory bail (twice as big as the actual fee) that wasn't specified on the website. However, much to our surprise we noticed the next day that the fee had taken off our account nevertheless. Angry Confused

Contrary to your story though, the person at the renting company wasn't sorry or embarassed, but when asked to return the money she said that they "don't do" such a thing, it's not "their procedure" to return money to client. Angry Angry Angry

It took us trial threats to get them return the money (with a few euros missing) after a couple of months. Angry This almost ruined our holiday because they drained almost all our reserve, and we had to make sure each day that we have enough money to do the basic stuff (like paying the bus, getting food, etc.)

Both these stories suck and Alex, yours also shows an ugly side of humanity =(

I've only had one experience with overdraft, when my bank tried to take money out of my bank account for the life-insurance they provide. But there wasn't enough, so they didn't take it. They did, however, take overdraft charges, which were equal to about three times the cost of the life insurance. Ouch

I was prepared to rhetorically ask if incompentence is universal, but your story also shows some bad intent besides the incompetence. Unhappy

I almost got some cheap coconut rum today, but decided against it. I love coconut, and I would've ended up drinking the whole bottle in one setting.

This place is so depressing!

I'm going out soon.  I'm designated driver but that's cool.  I like being sober anyhow.  Plus I'm stupidly tired.
