Papis was all at sea in F1. The Footwork situation was not helping him. But being outpaced by his teammate Inoue was a career killer.

Ide was suspended by F1 because he was too slow and he took some very orginal lines in and out of the corners. After sending a Christian Albers rolling and demolishing his Spyker at Imola due his unconventional line into the Villeneue chicane, his time was up.

On a postive note; it is Indy 500 time again !

The practice for Indy 2011 is under way and the Swiss Miss has had a massive crash. It is frightening to see how much the car catches air. One day, one of these cars will go over the catch fence and we will have a massive disaster on our hands. Open wheel racing on ovals is russian roulette. One day, there will be a bullet heading for the head.

Simona escaped the crash with some minor burns, thankfully.

Only time I've seen Max Papis myself is as a "road course ringer" in NASCAR (so twice a year) and I think some sports cars but I don't have any clue what.
LOL

You mean like Tony Rena and Paul Danna?

Your right, the amount of air it got was very scary, I hope the new Dallara in for next year is much better.

Ah, yeah every road course the lower NASCAR teams would get some people to drive for them, usually saw Papis, Boris Said, Ron Fellows to name a few.

Indy qualifying tomorrow and Sunday. 40 drivers chasing 33 spots in the greatest motorrace on the earth. Bump day will be nailbiting and very exciting.

Nuff said.

Daniel Ricciardo is an Aussie Red Bull driver, the 2009 British F3 champion (at the first attempt) and last years Formula Renault 3.5 runner up. Torro Rosso have him performing the first practice session at every race and its thought that he could end up replacing either Buemi or Algersuari at mid season. VERY highly rated, rumours persist that if Webber moves on at the end of the year he'll be parachuted in to the top team.

the most frightening thing about De Silvestro's crash is that the car actually took flight after the main hit, so theorically after the point in which most of the energy should have been dissipated

Ah, I did wonder!  Nobody was talking about him as a replacement for anyone.  I've not watched practice this season until now.

That's one of the reasons you would not find me in an oval watching an open wheel race. The oval owners and the various open wheel racing leagues using them has been very lucky until now. Cars has gone over the fence and landed on disused parts of the terraces (and killed the drivers). Other cars has gone very high on the catch fencing and bounced back. But it is only a time before one car lands in the spectator areas and kills tens of people. Then we are talking about doomsday scenario for many industries. Remember Le Mans in 1955.

Its not as likely at the moment since the days of 3 wide racing at all over ovals, centermeters apart at 220mph, seem to be over, plus it looks like the new bodywork providers for the new car are going down the closed wheel root, which should limit the possibility of an almighty airiel incident further.

Webber on poll, Red Bull have a clear advantage over everyone else. I cant remember a poll sitter ever looking so glum after finally beating his team mate, cheer up Mark!

Williams finally back in the top 10, surprisingly its Maldonado.

I still don't understand how Vettel can have a Kers problem whilst Webber doesn't (or it's not as bad an issue).

Anyhow, it's nice to see Webber on pole but it's not so nice to see a Red Bull on pole!

I look forward to the race though.  Heidfeld and Schumacher could be interesting strategy-wise.

Missed quali but I guess Heidfeld had some issue, and will probably be allowed to race?

It is strange these KERS issues happening on one car and not another, guess even the top teams can struggle with the mechanics of it all
or conspiracy theories abound, whichever.

Is crazy to see Williams and Maldonado so high. I will admit, I thought very little of him.

Oh and the irony that I am finally back home, so I can watch in the comfort of my room and not the communal TV, and its the always boring Spanish GP at Catalunya.
Really should just replace it with the Valencia street circuit and use the slot for something else!

No country needs 2 grand prix, though I know it's done to capitalize on Alonsomania...

Damn it Vettel!

Hmm, so it seems if you're in a reasonably good car, then not qualifying as high is better, as you save tires. LOL

Indy Bump day is about to begin. 9 places is up for grab among 17 drivers. Patrick Carpienter has been drafted in as replacement for Scott Speed. Andretti Racing is all at sea and even Danica Patrick has not qualified for the race.... yet. Great drama is about to unfold !!!
