Would this be a waste of time...

Sorry to make you question yourself. 

I know I am going to be re-reviewing some albums (there are a few albums I didn't like for a good while but are now worthy of one or two more stars and in some cases, a new review).

I say if you have time to waste, go for it.  Make it a gradual thing, like redo one review a day or week until you are satisfied with everything.  Then it won't seem like a chore.

Do a few, with no hurry, and see how you feel about it. 

For what little it's worth:

Although, if I were reviews-writing inclined (I lack the ability to communicate my passion for music and the way it speaks to me which is very sad for me since I wish to share that experience but I can't express it in words, and in a way it's deeply personal), I would go back to edit typos and grammar, I wouldn't want to edit out my earlier impressions of music.  Any significant changes that indicate a shift in perspective, or new insights, I would add on to the review, and indicate that those are later impressions/ thoughts.

It can be neat to see how opinion/ taste does change over time, and it can be neat to even see, with some, how the writing style / approach changes.

Even adding a quick note to the end of the review that your opinion changed, and you would not rate it such-and-such would, I think be worthwhile, but I wouldn't think re-writing is necessary (if you notice any errors, then you'll probably want to correct those at the same time).  Of course, as said above, you should do what you want and what feels right to you.

In sum, I think: edit a bit, add on to, re-rate, but don't re-write.

I looked at one of my old reviews earlier. This one was only a few months old and I already feel completely differently about it so I probably won't start getting into that. Though a few quick edits might be a good idea.

If it's a complete re-write, I'm happy to delete the original if you prefer, so that the new review gets a front page listing. Bear in mind though that if you decide to do this, your new review goes to the bottom of the listing on the album page.

I don't know if a thread on this has been started before, but I am curious about how many people have experienced taste changes in music in general over time and specifically since they first got into prog. 

For the most part they've remained consistent for me.  About the only shifts are a few albums I couldn't stand because a prog group went commercial and a few albums where a prog band went commercial where I went along at the time, but now really don't care about.
