Playing it on Nightmare at all is not a good idea. You'll be happier having never tried. You can do absolutely everything in the game in 30 hours on Normal. It will take at least twice as long on Nightmare because you spend all day trying to kill things. Enemies have maybe 5 times as much health on Nightmare, so the hordes who exploded all around you on Normal just keep on taking hits. The dodgy mechanics which made little difference on Normal come back with a vengeance. On normal, if that assassin magically disappeared on you absorbing your attacks and sh*t, it was little more than an annoyance. You would just turn around and splatter him in one shot when he reappeared and dealt 1/8th of your health bar in damage. On Nightmare, he absorbs that shot, reappears and one-hits mages and rogues, and has enough HP that you'll literally need 100x damage multipliers to kill him. The last boss of Act 2 has like 75,000 HP and uses potions.
I used the default Hawkes for my first two imports (each gender), though the third I made a custom Hawke whose family looked downright silly. Behold: Rasta-Carver! |

In fact I just beat the campaign by myself today; still need to finish it coop mode with my friends, as you have to play a lot differently to avoid killing each other (i.e. I can't just spam AOE steam/lightning/arcane blasts and landmines) |

Hahaha, I like the way your Mabari is very clipped there with your Mother.
I'll try and take a screenshot of my game soon. |

The Gears of War 3 beta has consumed me the past week, and it still goes on for another two weeks, which is probably a bad thing given I have finals soon...

This November is Uncharted 3 and Skyrim
I'm gunna pass out from blood flow away from my brain..... On the flip side, thinking of buying Half Life 1 and 2 from Steam to have em, as well as some other really intriguing games. Anyone know of Braid or "The Ball"? They looked interesting |

Obtain all 4 of the main canon Half-Life games immediately! They are all absolutely must play if you have any interest whatsoever in first-person games. The only person I've seen who said they didn't enjoy them was Henry here on PA, so that gives you a sense of their greatness lol. Also, a definite recommend on Braid; its uniqueness and challenge certainly are worth the low price tag. |

Interesting that they are still making new maps for a game released in 2006... |

The half-Life 1 series had a much better storyline, and IIRC took a lot longer too. Also, dem weapons

Series? You mean HL + OpFor + Blue Shift? Or did you just not intend the 1 on there? |

^ I'm assuming he meant the 3 GoldSrc games. While it is a great story in its own right, and the interconnectedness and overlapping nature of the tales adds an added level of intrigue, I think that the setting of City 17 is so well developed that it gives Half-Life 2 an edge overall in story.

Yes. I think the merits of HL2 & episodes are mainly cinematic in nature. Edited by Triceratopsoil - May 04 2011 at 01:24 |

Yes, from what I have seen of braid I have already fallen in love with it. I am going to buy it ASAP.
How about this ball game? Looks intriguing and I like the concept but I wonder how annoying/tiresome it could get lugging that ball around. The 2 HL games are obvious. I neeeed to play the first one...and I'll gladly play the second again! |

Yeah, I've heard almost universally that HL1 is awesome but just doesn't quite stand up to HL2 (leave it Colin to be the going against grain amirite?)
