Topic: Marillion in Montreal Posted: March 30 2011 at 09:17 |
I'm gonna see Marillion in Montreal on april 9th and I'm asking myself if they're gonna play some songs from the fish-era (I also love the H-era but all their albums with FIsh are among their bests). Wich ones do they play normally? Will they possibly play songs like Blind Curves, White Russian, Script for a Jester's Tear, The Web, Fugazi, Warm Wet Circles, Heart of Lothian, Bitter Suite ?

Holy sh*t they played Jigsaw? I was under the impression that they never played anything from Fugazi (some unspoken agreement with Fish). That's definitely one of my favorites from that album and one I've always wanted to hear Hoagie sing. That's pretty mindblowing if it's true.

HI,
This is not, one of the "biggies" (so to speak) in my book. But I have picked up a couple of their DVD's and I have to say ... yeah ... I would not mind seeing these guys ... very good indeed, and in the end, you gotta have an appreciation for the people that take care of their music ... and do it right!

All three nights in Montreal were brilliant! The setlist was very similar to the Netherlands, but not exactly the same. the music is great of course. But its the vibe and the friends you meet and make that keep me coming back more than anything. Its Family. And everyone is just so happy to be there. I traveled from San Diego which was a long weay but there people from other continents who travelled a lot further than I did.

One ofthe best shows I ever saw was back in '82 when Marillion played the old Spectrum with Fish. Fish got mad at the audience and started throwing acorns at us. I think he went out convinced that he was going to get mad at us. Glad he left his assault weapon in the hotel room.

Fish is definitely an intense frontman. When I saw him a couple years ago, he got pissed off at a guy for reading a book during the performance. He berated this guy for a good ten minutes until the guy just got up and left crying.
It was definitely one of the best concerts I've ever been to.

Not unusual - I saw them first before Script. They released Market Square Heroes as an EP before Script came along, and the rave reviews got a lot of us started at that time.
