Yup, guess Vettel was just taking it easy.
When it comes crunch time, lays out a lap 7 tenths better than Jenson.

Edit: Yes, but hey 10th is better than 15th.

I know.  That's a ridiculous time!

Nice to see Rosberg out qualify Alonso.

Di Resta 8th but should really have got 7th.  Good stuff though.

Cool to see both Torro Rosso's make it into Q1. I know the team has really put both drivers on the hot seat.

Edit: and what else can I say James? You are imagining what you want LOL I am paying more attention then ever and still have yet to see any smug from Vettel. Also I like Hami's accent better than Jenson's.

No, Button has the best accent.  You obviously don't see the smug in Vettel that I see.  Having said that, Vettel isn't a BioWare character...

What, new race?

Nice to see four world champions in the first five positions of the grid. There was a time when there was only one guy that was world champion, between those starting the race!

Missed the qualifying but wow what happened to Webber there Shocked

Vettel smug? Not yet but if/when he wins the Championship this year I could see him becoming smug as hell.

It seems like we here in Scotland is getting a new hero. Paul Di Resta that is. The cousin of Dario Franchitti. Both comes from Italian immigrants to Scotland who has blessed this country so much with excellent ice cream, race drivers and other things. But we are so used to great racedrivers that when another one comes along, we don't notice. That's really a shame. I happens to really like Paul Di Resta. I think he can become a great one. He beat Vettel, Hamilton and the other ones in the junior categories + he is the current DTM champ.

Webber had problems with his Kers and the RDS system. In China, that is like being a pro democracy campaigner.

If things maintain of course we may have Vettel being that one champion for the next few years! LOL

And Webber had KERS issues and apparently other problems as well.
That makes sense Torodd...I always though Dario had a pretty Italian name for a Scot LOL
As for Di Resta...don't get too filled with national pride yet Wink he is young and talented without doubt. He should go on to have success but you never know how an F1 career will turn out.

It helps that he is on Force India which I expected to take another step this year....and thus far it looks like they have!

Mark has my back.
James has convinced himself that Vettel is an arrogant smug b*****d. Also that Alonso is the greatest cheater of all time.
I know how prideful he can be, I just figured James is racist against them..being a German and a Spaniard. Tongue

Lolz at the thought of Alister racing in F1!

I really thought at the end of Q2 that we would have a proper fight for pole, then Vettel pulls that incredible time out of nowhere. He's actually broken the qualy lap record that Rubens set in 2004, and he had a 920hp V10 in the back of that car!

I bet McLaren are glad Renault ran into such trouble. I reckon Heidfeld would have had 4th on the grid and from there he would have taken the lead into turn 1 that car is so fast of the start.

Yes, Heidfeld was caught up with his own mistake (going out very late without a Q2 time in the bag) and also due to Petrov's unfortunate breaking down that screwed Heidfeld a bit.  Not Petrov's fault though, obviously.

And if Petrov's car had not broken, he'd have probably got 4th or maybe even better.  That Renault Lotus is a fast car and especially on this track.

Question: is Schumacher unlucky or is he just past his best now?  His team-mate got 4th, so it's not the car.

I guess you're all blind... I just saw Vettel interviewed and he's very smug indeed!

I'm still undecided on Vettel really I could definitely see him becoming the new Schumacher with an annoying habit for winning every race and a smug attitude. But he's not there yet.

But I definitely do not like Alonso, he is the sort you can tell is a nightmare behind the scenes for the whole team. Though I wouldn't call him a cheater. Wink

Reanult deliberatly left it late. Its a risky strategy that could save them extra tyres for Q3 or the race, but we saw the cost of getting it wrong.

Schumacher was passed his best by 2006. He reminds me of Lauda in the 80's, doesnt remotely have the one lap pace of the youngsters, but has the experience to get the best out of what he's got. Just look at Malaysia, he really hustled that car into the points when Rosberg was nowhere.

Vettel is always grinning and is obviously well chuffed with having the best car and beating Webber, so I can hardly blame him for the constant grin.

Wouldn't you be smug if you had that car and skill?  I know Webber has been unlucky but he's not as good as Vettel.  I still say Vettel is getting favoured by the team though.

Who knows though.  The race could prove to be interesting.  Even if Vettel wins, it'll be interesting to see what Heidfeld and Webber do from the back.

Oh and I agree about di Resta.  He looks like definite talent.  He's out performed Sutil in every race so far and out qualified him today as well.  He seems to be getting better with each race too.  Sutil is vastly more experienced at this level.

I could see di Resta getting in the top 5 at least once this season.

I don't see a schumacher type domination only because there's sooo many good people in the field.
BUT you never know.

Also I am going to miss the race, and the replay Cry
Hope it sucks so I won't feel as bad

I can "watch" all the live info on SPEED's website.
But you can't see the cars, hear the sounds, really watch it.

Just constant written updates and arrows indicating changes in grid position LOL

Get yourself a British IP address (see lists) and watch it live through BBC.com. Or maybe that even work in USA. Try.

I have never seen so much overtaking in F1 ever...... or for a long time. The new rules are a bit confusing because there is fighting cars all over the place. But I will get used to it. Lap 35 and there must have been at least a dozen of major overtakes.... already. The winner today ? No idea.
