Oh and Alonso and Hamilton have been awarded 20 second penalties after the race (for Alonso's move and Hamilton for weaving on the streight in defence). Hamilton is now classed 8th, no change for Alonso. Frankly there's no need for any penalties.

I liked the 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 system, or maybe one that would give a little more for podium/winning, but this one seemed a bit much to me actually. 25 for winning and 7 points to the runner up is a bit much IMO.
It's all just opinion and I just thought it was interesting Europeans always liked one with more points towards the top.
This was from my days on F1DB which no longer seems to be active...

I did see that. I thought it was uncalled for but hey, the Stewards sometimes do silly things. LOL

The current system was orignaly going to be 25-20-15 etc, but the teams didnt like it as it still offered the same proportional gap between first and second that the previous system did, and they didnt like that because the winner wasnt awarded enough.

Like I said, all preference. Not like it matters. Barring injury....I'm 100% OK with saying Vettel is already going to win this championship LOL

It's schumi and ferrari all over again. Best driver on the best team. The competition is doomed!
Unless Petrov gives him a friendly soup or decides to, fix, has personal car's break lines....

You guys know how they do things in Russia Wink

^I dont think so. 2002 and 4 saw Ferrari race away with a 1+ second per lap advantage, then insulted the rest of us by only pretending to let their drivers race. Heck, if it wasnt for Montoyas banzai one lap pace in qualifying Ferrari would have been on poll for almost every race in 02.

This year though, the McLarens are definitely very close to Red Bull on one lap pace and their race pace isnt that far away either, and their ongoing reliability problems with KERS (Newey's extreme packaging requirments at work again) means they could be left vaunrable to McLaren. With their development ability I predict its only a metter of time before McLaren really start turning the screw.

No doubt McLaren is close, and yeah the KERS issue if it doesn't get fixed could end up being a complete killer.

Of course I joke a bit, not going to say its over after 2 races. As we recall, in 07 I thought (and probably most did as well) that title was already sitting on Hami's shelf. With a race and a half left it was, but one inch of gravel ended up ruining it all.

Oh god yeah I remember that 2004 year (02 was one season before I started watching). Only that stopped Schumi from winning the first 13 straight races was that very odd accident at Monaco.

^Remember 2008 as well, where Massa spun out of the first two races, but only just lost the title.

Ah yes, can't forget the last lap pass that snatched the title from from Massa.

But all that being said, if things continue on as is Vettel is gunna be near unbeatable. LOL

^But remember, though, he never even lead the championship at all in his career until he won the championship last year in the last race!  Anything can happen!

Indeed, and while the current points system could give Vettel a ridiculous lead, if he blows a few and someone else can grab a few wins, well the championship could be volatile!

Heh Vettel feels so dominant i kind of forget that up until that last race I thought the title was Alonso's.
My favorite driver (with kimi gone) on my favorite team, I was so sure he'd have his 3rd title under the age of 30.
But was not to be Cry

Judging by practice, it looks like it will be more of the same, only with smog.

Smog in China? Never!

And seriously, I know anything can happen and all that jazz....but I am going to just assume Vettel has this in the bagLOL
Prepared for it. And if things go differently then it will be an awesome surprise! Big smile

Ahhh I love that opening carousel turn in Shanghai.

That long, churny complex that gets progressively tighter and drops a bit...
Awesome.

Also crazy that a different driver has won the Chinese GP every year. Maybe this season will be Webber's turn!

Holy sh*t!

Webber's KERS issues are continuing, and just caused him to be dropped from Q1!

Hahahahaha at Webber.

Not happy about Petrov though.

And I don't think it was solely down to a lack of KERS, Brian.  It didn't help though.

If Petrov is having issues then I may have to go for a Heidfeld pole... if he can get a quick lap in and not miss out on Q3.

Oh and lulz at the squabbling going on for track position.  Hardly any time to get a laptime in!

Oh and damn, Heidfeld failed too.  Renault have a good car too!  Here goes my hopes.

So Hamilton or Button for pole and maybe one of the Ferraris up their too.

I don't know.
We will find out. They just said his KERS wasn't working so that's all I got.

That was awesome. A one lap sprint to get your lap in!

Petrov may be OK. They said if it's just a clutch issue that is fixable without the 5 spot penalty.
Heidfeld disappoints again, and Vettel has been topped each time thus far. Hoping for a good Q3

Oh, well I don't know if Petrov will be out again, so may start 10th.
