As usual: No one cares James Tongue

Yes, they keep saying at least part (maybe all) of the race will be in rain. I hope so!
It would be great to see a real female driver. I mean she can run her life however she wants, but Danica 100% plays off the sex appeal. Seems kind of wrong, and guys will always be pigs but how much respect as a driver can you get? Especially when you still have only one win, which as a fuel mileage race.

Ah well. Going to have to take a nap tonight, so I can stay up till 6 am to catch the Malaysian GP!

6 a.m.?

I'm confused.

The re-run is on at 8 a.m. here.  Are BBC not showing the race live then?  I cannot find it on the listings.

Right, it seems the race is on live at 8 a.m. after all...

There really should be tons of women motorcycle racers. Smaller bodies make for a better PWR. With a car, the difference isn't noticeable because the vehicle weighs 5-7x as much, but with a bike, rider size does make a difference. Get a tiny 5-foot-nothin', 100-pound girl against a 6-foot, 200-pound behemoth and she has a 15-25% PWR advantage.
Hail Eris!

I've always thought that about horse racing too... but it's always men that do well at it.

I think both are plagued by sexism. Too much history of men in horse racing and too much chauvinism regarding women doing "dangerous" things. It doesn't help that neither seems to attract a large female audience.

Of course, I'm not really a fan of racing of any type. I just happen to ride a motorcycle. LOL

Well, don't know about there lol but here the live race starts at 3:30 am. Time slot ends at 6 am (and of course I stay up to watch the post race interview).
It's ok though, my time line got messed up. Since it'll be 6 am Sunday morning I can just sleep in really late.

We also have the F1 Forum on afterwards on the Red Button.

Do you get Merkan commentary?

Had the first boring Cup race of the year tonight.  Kenseth dominated the whole night while my guys had a craptastic night, although JPM had another solid run.  Even Fontana was more exciting than tonight!

Actually 2 of the 3 commentators are British (it is wonderful Big smile)

We have David Hobbs and Steve Matchett (if you know em even) and Bob Varsha who is Merkan.
Besides all the awesome British accents, they are all really good commentators. I love em.

It's time!
I've always liked this track a lot.

Here's to hoping for some rain!

Oh poor Webber, his KERS is not working. It dropped him from 3rd to 10th on the start and now he has to ride around all race with a handicap basically. A normal car while all his competitors have the boost. Damn...

Seems that Vettel is taking his second victory.

Meh to Vettel.  Even without his KERS for some of the race, he wins.

Nice one Heidfeld though!  Would have preferred to have been Petrov but he wasn't so hot today.  Plus he going off was erm... embarrassing.

That was actually a good race. OK, Vettel winning was a bit predictable but the racing between everyone else was brilliant.

What a race!
Yeah, Vettel led the whole time without issue, but behind him the racing was great. Pretty much just like the Schumi years. I still found F1 exciting then...it was just a bit predictable.
Lots of dicey racing. Lots of battles and great moves at Sepang.

Congrats to Heidfeld who took all the flak at Melbourne (we now know that was unfair) but landed a podium finish.
He had to hold off Webber who had a brilliant race considering he had no KERS the whole time, fought from 10th and made a ton of stops.

The Ferrari's continue to be off the pace of Red Bull and McLaren, Kam scored another point finish and Force India managed a point with the young Scot!
No rain, but I really liked this race and a cool top 10.

Sad thing is, I'm sure the conspiracy theories are already flying. Always happens whenever you have one driver who seems to pwn the rest.
Poor Rubino...all the talks of "the pit crew always screws him", "you know they are messing with the car", "he gets inferior equipment"

I lol because at these people because one driver can just be that much better. Vettel is something else, at race start he pulled out a second a lap over the field before the tires started wearing.

Back to RBR, Vettel's failed near the end and he was told not to even use it before hand. It is crazy that the team which seems best this year without doubt could have issues with their KERS. I mean it's such a major piece this year, but guess even the best team isn't perfect.

Ferrari had issues with DRS though, Brian.  It seems both KERS and DRS could cause issues this season.

Side note:
I've had this debate many times over the years...should the points system be more "win" focused or based on consistency.
Europeans almost always fell into the former camp, Americans the latter (which I do prefer myself).
Funny, since the heavily win skewed points system means barring something crazy...Vettel is pretty much going to be untouchable James LOL

Well, guess that adds to my point, even the top teams aren't perfect. Although Ferrari does seem off the pace in general. Have been consistently behind RBR and McLaren. Shame because this is the whole 150 years of Italy thing. Add that on top of the team pride and you know if they don't improve this season it will be considered a failure.

In fact, according to rumblings...many felt if Ferrari didn't win the title this year it would be a failure to them.

Oh, and you guys see when Petrov's steering wheel broke off!!
Scary right there.

I think the current points system gets a good balance. You should get well rewarded for winning, but not so much that its a joke.

Oh and Alonso and Hamilton have been awarded 20 second penalties after the race (for Alonso's move and Hamilton for weaving on the streight in defence). Hamilton is now classed 8th, no change for Alonso. Frankly there's no need for any penalties.

I liked the 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 system, or maybe one that would give a little more for podium/winning, but this one seemed a bit much to me actually. 25 for winning and 7 points to the runner up is a bit much IMO.
It's all just opinion and I just thought it was interesting Europeans always liked one with more points towards the top.
This was from my days on F1DB which no longer seems to be active...

I did see that. I thought it was uncalled for but hey, the Stewards sometimes do silly things. LOL
