But slats is wrong.  The band are stupid.

I was pointing out the fact that even on a website like that the fans are arguing about the whole slats vs. slabs thing.

I know but that's not an official site.

I'll go with Dolby Set.

Why am I even arguing about some sh*tty Animal Collective lyrics anyway?

Not even the fans know what they're singing about. LOL

Surprisingly good actually.  I liked it.

Some of it is a bit naff but it's certainly better than Trisector and even better than the last part of Present (excluding the excellent Every Bloody Emperor and Nutter Alert and maybe In Babelsberg as well).

It's different though.  So don't expect classic VdGG.

I'm still not sure about the lyrics (not the vocals, they're excellent).  I'll read the lyrics in the booklet later.  The musicianship is awesome though.  Some of them even sound avant at times.

This is almost exactly how I felt. Shocked

Big smile

Where do our thoughts about it differ?

Some songs have rather generic lyrics whilst some are much more Hammillian and will need digesting.  I was put off by Rico's negativity on the first listen but on a second listen it sounded much better.  The last track's ending is classic VdGG.

I mean, almost everything you said is right on line with my initial listens. Hammill's voice is sounding great and most of the lyrics are good with the exception of the one about math... Can't remember the title...

But overall, it's like solo Hammill that's above and beyond the rest of solo Hammill.

I like the two songs about mathematics!

5533 is especially good.  Not genius lyrics but they fit.

I felt some of the others fell down a bit though.  Like the opener.

And yes, it's kind of like a Hammill solo release with Banton and Evans (which he's done before).  And wow, Banton and Evans are glorious.

Oh and apart from the slightly annoying slide guitar, I liked the two instrumentals.  The song that seemed to start off like Status Quo improved too.  I like Hammill's punky guitar riffs too.  One even reminded me a bit of Fred Frith's style.

Pretty much.  On first listen I enjoyed it the most.  The second listen too but some of the other tracks sounded better as well.  I'll need further listens yet.

I thought Embarrassing Kid was about Matt... but apparently it's not.

LOL That was a pretty good song too, although it's subject matter kinda bored me.
