Large Capacity MP3 Players

Reading this with my common or garden Sony MP3 player (8gb capacity) on, I suddenly feel extremely inadequate

I agree...I don't need too much music with me mobile, because when I'm out it's usually to do something - I just need an album or two for the bus there and back. I don't see the point of bringing your entire music collection with you, as cool as it is.

For driving I still like my 16 slot CD case.  My wife would say  "get a CD changer" then I'd say "shut up beeotch" then she'd tear my nuts off. 

I'm fairly good about being able to manually change CDs while driving.  My last truck's player had an auxiliary plug in, so I'd usually just shuffle on a playlist when I used that. 

I like the idea of a USB port though.  Unfortunately that poses the problem of figuring out what the heck you want to listen to in advance which is why I came up with my randomizer method.

I have a 240 gb ipod from these guys that pretty much suits my needs. But it was refurbished and it doesn't look like they sell my kind anymore. It also has an improved sound chip so it's a pretty good deal.

I remember the good old days when a 1 GB hard drive was considered huge.

That's still valid for me. The best player I have is still the 500MB no-name I got back in 2006!

^ depending on whom you give the password to ... or in other words, depending on how many people can access stored files simultaneously. But of course the music industry tries to throw a wrench in there regardless - their knee jerk reaction is "wait - isn't this something we should charge extra for?".
