The first time I heard Tales from Topographic Oceans I nearly soiled myself in joy (although I'd heard "Ritual" many times prior).

Certainly this is indispensable for anyone here who's kind of into Magma.

The version on Live au Trianon is way better.

I should listen to that version again.  But I distinctly remember the Retro one being my favorite.

Better sound quality but no way a better version.  It's only better inasmuch as it brings the whole trilogy together.  Wurdah Itah is better though!

I love the apocalyptic feel of the track.  Those synths at the end get me every single time.  So damned scary.  Then M.D.K. kicks in with the French speech and that bass intro... mmm.

M.D.K. has the weakness of the break and the violin in this version though.  Plus it doesn't feature the awesome bass solo on Opera de Reims.

However, Theusz Hamtaahk on here is far better.  Come on dude, Klaus Blasquiz!

Quite right too.  It is better and also my favourite. Big smile

It's still a good album, Rob but it's weak compared to everything else except Merci and Attahk (which I have just realised maybe even weaker than Udu Wudu -- it's a close run thing).

If I can help it, I like to start with a "pretty good" album (based on ratings here) rather than the highest rated.

Well, "Troller Tranz" sucks.

You know what's funny?  I can't remember the first Yes album I bought (studio-wise...I know I bought Yessongs first).

I bought Fragile first.

Fragile was actually one of the last ones I bought, believe it or not (that includes buying Union) Dead

I'm really trying to figure out which one it was though...I'm thinking Close to the Edge, but I'm not positive.  Confused

My dad had some weird Atlantic records compilation CD that had "Heart of the Sunrise" on it, and I heard it and said "I need whatever this is".  I think I was 12.

My dad loves rock, but not prog.  The first (and only) time he heard Still the Waters, he literally fell asleep halfway through.  I guess I was a little crushed at the time, but I understand.

I played him a couple of tracks on the new album (all of which are shorter than 6 minutes except the title track), and he was really impressed.  That made me feel really good.

I don't care much for Klaus. Antoine is a much better singer.

Sure would be nice if certain of your fellow beer drinking dads could get an advanced copy.  Wink

I still have that wonderful anticipation every time, 30 years on from my first play.  You step into that "land" they created and get lost in amazing sounds.  I love the fact that after all this time I haven't fully assimilated all of its magic.

But he's not as sexy.

I still need that French at the beginning of MDK on Retrospektiw I-II translated though.

I didn't "get" this at first when I was a kid, took me many listens.

I've always liked TFTO but generally 80 minutes is too much.

It's not all finished yet.  LOL

Tasha has to do her vocals on almost all the songs, but this weekend she is incredibly busy with her first wedding cake contract.  She is singing almost half the lines.  My mom has agreed to take the kids so we can get that done.  After we get Tasha's takes, I can make the final adjustments.  The music (other than two places) is completely finished.

I only listen to the album about once a year.  It's just too magical for me.  I can't concentrate on much else when it's on.

Jim, do you know El Cielo by dredg?

I know what you mean, but that never happened to me with Yes albums.  Found them all instant-swoon

Hey Rob, do you like Wilco?

Yet sadly, I feel like you would watch an 80 minute MLP movie.

She's Queen Tasha and she rules the whole backyard.

I forced myself through that MLP live thing, one of that hardest things I've ever done. If there was a movie from the current version I'd gladly watch it, bronies forever. Cool
