Well, "Troller Tranz" sucks.
You know what's funny? I can't remember the first Yes album I bought (studio-wise...I know I bought Yessongs first).

I kind of like how they build it into their music; it's very chant-like and sort of hypnotic at times. | I was about to use that very adjective.

My first was MDK. I wonder where to go next. How's the first one?

The first two are really great albums. Definitely check them out. They have a nice jazzy quality that sets them apart from the rest of Magma's work.

Hmmm, it's pretty good, I guess but pretty good to a Magma fan is ambiguous to a beginner. I'd still say either the debut ('cause it's less repetitive) or Kohntarkosz (which is repetitive but doesn't have as many vocals to annoy people).

Thanks, I think I will do that
Fragile was my first too. Heard Roundabout one day and thought.......yup.

...that moment you realize you like "Mob Rules" better than "Heaven and Hell"

Kevin, you need to hear Theusz Hamtaahk from Retrospektiw I-II. That's very chant-like and hypnotic. As is the version of MDK on there as well.

If you're going to listen to Magma for the first time, go with live albums.

I bought Fragile first.
| Fragile was actually one of the last ones I bought, believe it or not (that includes buying Union)
I'm really trying to figure out which one it was though...I'm thinking Close to the Edge, but I'm not positive.

Certainly this is indispensable for anyone here who's kind of into Magma.

I'll look into them, James.
Fragile was the first Yes album I heard in it's entirety too, but the first Yes song I really fell in love with was Sound Chaser off of Relayer (when I was just starting to get into prog, before I really knew what it was and before I was buying full albums of the stuff )
I get to go bowling with some friends tonight. Have a good evening everyone, I'm out for a while.

Although all this talk of Magma may force me to listen to Opera de Reims.

| There's no reggae in "Roundabout." Southern rock, maybe, but not reggae.

I've only heard Attahk, E-Re, Hhai, KA, Kobaia, MDK, Retrospektiw I-III and Wurdah Itah.
