Very talented songwriter/studio boffin (Stewart) wedded to a charlatan quine whose wardrobe contained most of her creative output. The Eurythmics were better than the Tourists though. They once made a video in Orkney when I lived there - Here Comes the Rain Again? However, there have been even more tenuous inclusions....

While I like the band they don't belong here , that's for sure. No way to be included not even to related, they are a pop band

Are we going to consider Billy Idol next ?

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

There is no need for this kind of remark.

Tell us how you really feel and don't hold back. But Dave Stewart is in the band. Oh wait, wrong Dave Stewart. I think their soundtrack for the movie 1984 was proggy, but other than that I only am familiar with their hits.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I know I might get some heat for suggesting them though using the search I was surprised they were not before. The reason I am suggesting them is because their first album In The Garden, tends to have a bit more krautrock, psychadelic feel to it than their later more commercial works and was produced by legendary Krautrock producer Conny Plank and featured contributions from Holger Czukay and Jaki Liebezeit of Can.

I didn't know the album, but can hear where you're coming from with that album based on the tracks that Dean posted from it, and disagree with those who seem to think there are no merits for Prog Related (wonder if they all are reasonably familiar with the album you suggested the Eurythmics for -- would hope so) -- getting into Prog Related is quite an involved process, though, so I'm not saying the album SHOULD render the Euryhtmics includible.. It's quite reminscent in part to me of David Bowie's Krautrock influenced albums (Berlin trilogy). Good stuff, and glad to hear music off it. I like Eurythymics later work (group i alwys enjoyed), but music from this album really appeals to me. Thanks. I do plan to get the album at some time. By the way, I've been listening a bit to The Tourists (the pre Eurythmics group), and since I've heard In the Garden called a link between the two groups, I hoped for something more interesting with The Tourists.

Eurythmics' first album is krautrock influenced, but to my ear a long way short of prog-related. Like so many post-76 bands they absorbed good ideas from everywhere, and thus they are tinged with prog but no more. And far less after their first album.
