I'm guessing Tartar Lamb II?
Which sounds nothing like Coyote.

Oh please. The overabundant use of bass harmonics and lazed timing? Same formula.
Just because there is an absence of shrieking and wailing doesn't mean much (probably an improvement though).
|
And every Philip Glass composition sounds the same because of the repeated structures and arppegiated chords? They both sounds like Toby compositions. They don't sound anything alike aside from that and some timbrel qualities.

| You just said "sounds nothing like Coyote" and now you say "they both sounds [sic] like Toby compositions."
My point was this: If you gave me Coyote and Polyimage of Known Exits, without telling me who did them, I would say they were probably by the same band and recorded about the same time.

Lol well okay. I can do that for any band. Every composer has a style of writing that you can identify. You saying Coyote III would imply a much stronger connection than that.
When you say two things sound a like I hardly think that refers to those signature aspects of composition.

| I don't think TL2 sounds exactly like Coyote- just saying they are very similar in sound, not composition.
I'm currently creating new music that sounds absolutely nothing like Epignosis, although I guess people can judge that for themselves. When it's done I'll upload it on bandcamp or something and maybe score some beer money.

You can tell a Zorn composition is a Zorn composition even though the range of style is astonishing. I'm sure your music will be the same.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing of course. It just is. In fact, I think the best composers are the more recognizable ones.

Kevin, you don't waltz in here, tell us something is up and then not tell us what is up.

| I don't know...I also have an album's worth of country-jazz music. Would you be able to tell I wrote that?
But I agree- a recognizable style is almost always a plus.

Magma always sounds like Magma but compare their debut to M.D.K. Compare M.D.K. to Udu Wudu. Compare Udu Wudu to Emehntehtt-Re. Compare them all to the very average Merci.
They're all different. Yet they have that signature Magma sound.

These comics that you post are very puzzling.

I'll try it out. I listened to Still the Waters twice, but it's really not my kind of thing.
Jazz-Country is more up my alley.
| I should clarify- I'm kind of working on two projects. The jazz-country thing is something I've been doing for over four years (my wife will be singing on it).
What I'm going to post on bandcamp is more along the lines of experimental sh*t that I kind of just started writing fairly recently.

What I can say, nearly a decade of broadband internet has severely impacted what I find funny. You should just be glad that I'm not deviant enough to like Jerkcity and Supermega and inflict a marathon of them on you.
