Both Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head are much better. I probably like them about equally. Those are probably the most well known tracks off the other albums. They are kind of poppy but they're also very pretty songs.

A friend of mine once made over $40 in half an hour of playing the song "Viva la Vida" on bassoon on the Atlantic City boardwalk. It was pretty epic.

And Kevin, don't forget Politik. The acoustic version of that is very good.

Here's the first thing I heard anything by or related to Coldplay. Don't hate me.

I used to like Coldplay when they came out, but I haven't checked out what they do for years now. What I heard sounded like they keep repeating themselves to death with less and less inspiration. The first two albums are still great though.

For Philip Glass I'd say his albums Glassworks, Second Violin Concerto, and Solo Piano. I also really enjoy his second symphony, but people seem to not like that. Those would be my favorites of his. For Reich obviously Music for 18 Musicians. My favorite Reich is actually his Octet/Music for a Large Ensemble album. Different Trains is also a must, as is Drumming. I like his Early Work compilation a lot too. Start with those.

Not really. I don't think so anyway. @UB: I agree. But I think it's because it's more derivative of Radiohead/Talk Talk (the former which Coldplay is a poppier ripoff of).

Alright, I have Different Trains and Music for 18 Musicians already, I'll look into the rest. What about similar composers? |
