Best I had was like 2 seconds I was able to "control" my dream but it was like "move left" then I woke up.

And lol I never quite bought that Astral Plane stuff.
But if Toby claims he goes there and makes music based off the collective conscious of billions of humans than who am I to argue?

Astral Projection or Lucid Dreaming? If it's the former I'm pretty intrigued by that.

Usually when I realize I'm dreaming it's not a pleasant dream and I want to wake up. It doesn't happen that often, though, and it's not always sinister, but like you I pretty much just wake up if I try to control it. For example, I did have a weird multi-layered dream the other night, it was the first actual nightmare I've had in a long time. I was in a castle with Kris Straub and we saw a ghost and I woke up multiple times inside the castle. I don't remember very clearly except that in my dream I thought it might be Inception. The ghost was just chilling there, though, it shouldn't have been so scary, but I was trying to claw myself awake and I woke up sweating with my heart pounding. 

Astral projection isn't real, though.

Well, how can you know it's real or not? You may believe not. I'm pretty skeptical myself, but open to anything.
Edit: Yeah, I want to say it's probably extremely vivid dreams but how can we know eh?

And I suppose it could be scary, being aware for a long period. Last time I remembered a dream, still do, it was a pretty frightening one.

RE astral projection: never experienced it, no idea if it's real, although I'm skeptical. I'm sure if you wanted to believe it enough you could dream it and convince yourself it was proper projection.

And Kevin told me to keep the journal as ready as possible and record every possible detail you can. As I told ya, last time I went to bed saying "I will remember my dream" I did, and wrote it down and still remember with vivid detail to this moment, so it does seem to work. Also the dream was kinda terrifying

One other thing to remember is to not move immediately when you wake up; stay still in bed with your eyes closed until you can remember most of what happened in your dream. If you move around you'll usually forget about 90% of the fine detail pretty quickly.

Only other thing that kinda freaks me out is when Kevin was saying he has, pretty much, been in a hallucination state.
In sleep paralysis, and dreaming but fully aware of it, so for like an hour he was there paralyzed more or less hallucinating over real life. I think, something like that

If you keep a dream journal for long enough it comes more naturally then you can practice stuff like dream re-entry, if you wished to do so.
