Looking for a band in America.

Dunno how many people know me here seeing as I mainly post reviews but don't come in the forums very often. Long story short, I'm a British musician, currently living in Germany, but looking to head over to America/Canada.

Whatever you do, don't go to Central Florida.  Musicians are so bitchy and flaky there.

Your probably looking at the coasts I think, ive heard that the north east has a pretty substantial prog scene but I personally prefer the northwest wich is more indie influenced but still has some prog related stuff (not metal though unless you count black metal)

I don't know what part of Florida they are coming from, it just seems like I was updating a lot of bands in MMA that seemed to be from Florida.

You can check Maryland if you like. Baltimore had a prog scene all through the late 70's and 80's and I'm sure the ball is still rolling. I have been disconnected for quite some time but I'm almost sure without doing research that the prog scene there is still alive. Wayside Music in Maryland promotes the local prog bands (I believe). Also try Delaware. Philadelphia apart from the Jazz scene has grown away from the original prog scene which I witnessed in the past. South Street changed a lot as in the past, prog bands were performing there. And in center city, bands like Gong, Passport and I believe National Health were performing. There were still clubs in Philadelphia for original progressive acts that traveled here from European shores during the mid 90's. Bands that were not nearly as popular to Gong. I would still check out Philadelphia just to see. North Jersey had a Metal scene back in the 80's. Check to see if it's still active because there were agencies I worked for that booked Metal. Original and cover. N.Y. is always a clear shot for you!  Ask Moshkito about the west coast because he might know what's happening with the recent music scene of any type over there.

(and also, the cost of living there is pretty high isn't it?)   Someone suggestd Boston to me, and whilst I've heard before about Boston having a good music scene, I kind of figured it would be mostly jazz. Is this right?
