Hey Kevin, Fallout 3 is pretty great so far, but I am terrible at it. I guess I'm just going to have to learn.

It looks like an homage to one of Henry's old ones.

Josh, if you like Fallout 3 but wish it was medieval instead of post apocalyptic, check out Oblivion. I like Fallout 3 quite a lot but I still play Oblivion FAR more than I do Fallout 3.

I might try that out if I like it enough. I do love the post-apocalyptic setting of Fallout 3, as far as the atmosphere goes it doesn't get any better than that. However, if Oblivion doesn't have the shooting elements, which I suck at even when using V.A.T.S., I might prefer that. I've always been a sword-wielder, not a gun-slinger.

The only shooting in Oblivion is arrows (well, spells too) but neither is essential and both are incredibly easy to master.

The combat in all the Elder Scrolls games is atrocious.
Pat, have you heard For Alto by Anthony Braxton? I got it in the mail today (no scrobbling yet because my computer hates me) and it's pretty great.

Yeah, I dislike shooting in Fallout. Ammo is a bitch, and it's f**king impossible to aim. Melee weapons are better.

This.
The shooting mechanics in Fallout are far from tight too, but at least you have VATS.

Oblivion > Fallout 3 overall IMO, although Fallout 3 was better in some minor aspects. Want to play a non-melee based class in Oblivion? Then get ready for hours of back-pedalling fun!
Edit: Actually, the lvl 20 perk in Fallout 3 which refills your VATS if you get a kill with VATS was pretty stupid.

The only thing I've heard by him is his first album, which didn't really blow me away.
Just looked up For Alto and I see it has a composition dedicated to John Cage. This makes me interested.

Even if the fighting system was perfect, combat would still be my least favorite part of Fallout.

I should be great at VATS since it's mostly all strategic with no action involved, but once you get back into real-time you have to run away, which I am pretty horrible at doing. I hate to admit it, but I died twice when I was escaping from the vault.
I'm using a PC, so I don't know how much of a difference it makes compared to those who play it on a console, but I think it would be easier.

Yeah, the graphics, atmosphere, characters, open-endedness are what is really making Fallout for me at the moment.
