Greg Lake also shared a flat with Robert Fripp at one point and during this time Greg introduced Robert to the fine art of picking up girls. |

HAR! What a riot those days must have been!! Ray Bennett told me he shared a flat with Squire, and Squire earned the nickname "The Fish" because he wouldn't get the hell out of the bathtub! My God, imagine being a part of that scene! Everybody knew/roomed with everybody else, shared instruments, traded bands etc.!

german band Agitation Free was first named Agitation, a word the band had picked out randomly out of a dictionary.
the 'Free' addition came as an inspiration after having hosted a free concert |

The translation and / or legend of some Romanian prog band names:
Kumm means "sand" in Tartar. The band was born on the beach, and there are still some Tartars living on the Black Sea coast. The pre-Kumm band (which is also on PA) was called Talitha Qumi, which is from the New Testament and means "Get Up And Walk". Celelante Cuvinte means "The Other Words". RE the prog-folk band Bucium, this is what a "bucium" is: Negura Bunget consists of two archaic words, the first meaning "dark fog", and the second "old/thick forest". Nu & Apa Neagra means "No & The Black Water". |

They haven't toured much so I'm not sure how aware they are of this
issue. However, the way it is pronounced is different in Tartar and
Romanian - the u in Kumm is pronounced like the u sound from, say, soup
or spoon. That does make the difference more clear, I suppose.

When Budgie's debut album was recorded in the early seventies (produced by Rodger Bain), it was freezing cold, so much so that bass player Burke Shelley had to literally wear gloves when playing his instrument, and the producer kidded after about how that was the secret to his "heavy bass sound"

Marillion's original singer got the same nickname for the same reason, if I'm not mistaken. Edited by zappaholic - December 21 2010 at 19:08 |

That's just an old rumor. Her favorite album was "Larks Tongue in Aspic" by King Crimson, and she listened to "LTIA, Part 2" day in and day out. Camilla told me.

Tony Levin played bass on "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" (and, in fact, most tracks on Paul Simon's "Still Crazy After All These Years" album.)
